I don't want this to turn into an APC or flightinfo type thread. So lets keep this civil. I want honest opinions, without personal attacks.

Despite GoJet now being represented by Teamsters, do you still consider the Airline a dirtbag operation? Would you say it is OK for pilots to want to work there, despite their history?

My personal opinion is, screw GoJets. To me, it doesn't matter that they are Union now, the entire history the company is enough for me to never want to work there or have respect for those who want to go work there.

My point being, just because a Scab operation becomes unionized, does it raise the reputation of the company? Does it make it OK to go work there?

I just don't understand how people can forget about why GoJets came about and decide to go work there. I have a lack of respect for that operation.

Is this a serious question by you?

Because the rest of this post contradicts your opening lines.

Ha, no the fact that they're teamsters doesn't make it "okay" to work there in my view. Anyone with "gojet" on their resume is someone I don't want to be around, work with, talk to, look at, or interact with in any way. They are most certainly persona non grata when it comes to jumpseats or any other sort of professional courtesy normally extended to airline pilots. I'm pretty confident things will stay that way for a long time unless the seniority lists are ever integrated at TSA holdings.

Why can't you be comfortable in your own opinion? Why the need for validation? I only ask because it's your career, your decisions, your responsibility, nobody elses.

Last time I was in ORD I saw a HoeJet pilot with a lanyard with TEAMSTERS in bold letters... All I could do was giggle and feel sorry for the labor groups that are actually represented by the Teamsters. I wonder if their flight attendants are part of the local grocery store worker union?

I don't hold anything against them personally, but I think it's a horrible idea for any pilot to consider going there. Not only will you be continually spat upon by other pilots who would make life miserable if you plan to commute or hitch a ride anywhere, but once your resume is stained with a company that is universally hated, it's the end of the road for you in this business. There are other, better options if you're looking for a job.

Eh, don't be so fast to knock the Teamsters.

They've done wonderful things for NetJets, and will continue doing great things for the entire Republic family.

Now, before someone (PCL/Velo) states that it's not the same Teamsters pilot union representing GayJets, I know.

This was more a general post about not knocking the genuine Teamsters pilot union.

Oops... think you misinterpreted.. I respect the teamsters a lot as well as the other work groups they represent, so I feel bad that they are associated with GJ... I'm already on my second union, no doubt I'm definitely pro-labor :-)

Umm...Airdale is in training with RAH...I don't think he's looking for validation guys. :panic:

I hate "what if" questions, but here's goes one...

What if someone were to get in there, work their way up in the union and try their best to make it a decent place to work would that still be considered a "black mark?"

Just wondering...

Yes, we have a union. You're on the RW side, so you did ALL of your training at flight safety I bet. The union won't send reps to the new hire classes in STL, they only come to indoc classes in IND. Are you a member over at republicpilots.org? If not, get registered.

Max, You have teamsters 747 representing airline pilots (sans gojet) 1108 representing frac guys, and 618 representing parking lot agents, gas station attendants and oh yeah some airline named GoJet. The teamsters structure is a little different than ALPA. The GoJet pilots petitioned 618 for representation not the Teamsters, al la Colgan did with ALPA.

Yeah...I'm registered there. It pisses me off that we had nobody come over and give us the scoop. Just sign here, and hand over the money. Oh well, what do you do???

No, I am not looking for validation here and I'm not trying to be contradictory. I knew the thread would attract a lot of attention, but I don't want it to get out of hand.

The reason for the thread is, I'm in training at Flight Safety and we frequently come across GoJet guys wearing they stupid leather jackets with "GoJet" on the front. There are mixed opinions by those in my class. Some do not like them, others say that because they have a Union now, that everything is okay. Just wanted to see what the general consensus felt about them now, having a Union.

I wouldn't work there, but I just don't get the reasons why someone would want to.

And Andy, we had the Union talk to us already along with pizza. Dues are a bit expensive, especially first year when we don't have any protection from the Union. But I guess since we are working under their contract and work rules, might as well pay our dues as well, which is okay with me. Just disappointed that the extra money I would be making here will be dwindled by health care costs and Union dues.
