Yes, the view was nice, but the room should have been facing the airport, not away from it. This was brought up with the CEO of Mesa when they were remodeling the office prior to the move to PHX and he blew off the SOC manager. Just another example of the "Mesa way." There was a rumor that the CEO wanted dispatch on that side of the building so he could see the office from his house on Camelback mountain...it wouldn't surprise me.
Most of the SOC managers they've had in recent years have no dispatch experience, because they can't get anyone experienced to work there and put up with all the BS...so you have a parade of pilot training managers, and currently I believe an ex maintenance controller in charge of the office...
But yes, it was a nice view.
