Going into ERAU w. no flight time.

unless they feel they can fit another one, or two in his/her place. Obviously they don't make money buy turning away students, that is why groundschools are over filled and instructors have too many students and then the students fall between the cracks. They might not be making money on those students, but they will find others to take their place.

Haven't you heard the phrase "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush"?... I don't think they would turn you away because they figure they can get two new students in your place... That is rediculous...

A professional program did tell me that I couldn't be a pilot. Looking back, that's pretty funny now that I am a pilot and doing quite well.

No offense, but you aren't even close to being done yet...

Like I said, these comments are based on my experience, I hope somebody can use my experience to know whether or not ER is the school for them.

But you continually start threads and spout inaccurate information like it is fact that will occur to everyone. You make it sound as though practically no one can make it through Riddle. You continue to post this stuff but don't want anyone to counter you on it...

You can rest assured that a good portion of your problem at Riddle was your own doing... You may have had a less than stellar instructor, which could be partly to blame also... But one bad instructor does not a failed student make. This I can say with utmost confidence, as I have employed CFI's... and dealt with several bad ones... One of the first things Riddle does (or you should request) was an Instructor change... If you had multiple instructors telling you the same thing, then you can't blame the school...

I suggest you at least get your feet wet before dropping major bank at Riddle. Once you're absolutely sure it's what you want to do, then do it. 5 hours or so at your local flight school is all you need.

I think you need to learn to read... my posts clearly state that people make it through the program, some do pretty well. Others, on the other hand, may struggle and IN MY EXPERIENCE the management is not very helpful regarding those who are struggling for any reason.

You need to realize that ER is not completely infalable and it is possible that they didn't try thier best with some students. I asked for help, from many training managers, yet all they could tell me was what I was doing wrong, not how I could fix it. I paid them to teach, but all I recieved was being told what I was doing wrong. I didn't have problems with instructors. I had problems with managers and standards instructors.

I am closer than you think and on track. Just because I'm not there yet doesn't mean I won't get there.

Like I said before, this is all based on my experience. You can take from it what you want. If someone doesn't believe it, that's fine. Best of luck to you all.

I agree with RedBirdFan, go take a couple hours of Flight Instruction from a local flight school... Just enough to give you the feel of flying and make sure it is what you are expecting...

Keep in mind going to Riddle doesn't mean flying everyday... There is a LOT more classroom work (flying and non-flying related) than there is time on the flight line. You are still getting a full 4 year degree, so you will have plenty of school work in addition to your flying activities...

Good luck... You'll do fine... Most do...

Which campus are you going to attend?

if i go in the fall w. no flight time and i do my best to get the flying in a timely manner, how soon can i expect to get my ppl

If everything goes as expected (emphasis on the "if" when talking about ERAU), you can realistically knock it down in 6 months.

Dang... Thats a long time. You can get the PPL done during one summer pretty easily. If not even quicker at a local FBO, and prolly save some money too.

I agree, but remember that he'll be taking a full class load as well.

So, I can take a full class load (18 Units), have a part-time job, and still have hours of sitting on my butt doing nothing.

Cool, but can you honestly say that you'd mix that with primary flight training?

Yeah, it's called sleeping from exhaustion or studying if you're throwing PPL training in as well. I was flying full time, only taking TWO online classes, and working full time. I was barely getting enough sleep, and thank god there was time at work to get my homework and studying done. Something had to go, and it was the job. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
