Giving Back, Effeciently. Any ideas?

Why are no power tools allowed?

I've only volunteered at Habitat a few times, but it seems to depend on the group's experience and the job. I've been on a Habitat crew installing a roof with a few people who'd volunteered on that job before and they let us use a roofing nailer. Earlier at that job site, we had a crew of people trying to look good for a photo op who had to be told which end of the hammer to use, no air nailers or anything else fun on that one. The supervisor used the saw, everything else was hammer and nail.

I agree 100% with you. If it is about making yourself look and/or feel better Habitat is great. But there are a lot more programs out there that a unskilled or low skilled person can make a big difference with.

Agreed. Habitat project is great for a photo op, but, writ large, if you have no experience you're just slowing down other people and exposing them to bodily harm.
