GFK, RDR...close enough

Talk about having a bad day...

Today Northwest 1698 was having problems telling the two apart in the haze.

Maybe they were MEM based. happens everyonce in a while. I would just plan on reporting WAAAAAUUUUUUSSSSSSSAAAAAUUUUUUUU as a joke. The Green guys are funny.

i could see it happening coming from devils lake, but i don't really see how northwest could coming from the SE.

eh, happens a few times a year. one of the tower guys was telling me a few years ago that NW came in on the last flight of the day and lined up with the interstate

I heard from someone that the Tower said this happens almost once a month. I wonder if they have actually ever landed at the AFB.

Time to fill out another ASAP report!

(btw, I've already filled out 3 of them in my 1 1/2 years of flying around the busy congested Northeast corridor of the USA...better safe than sorry)

Which is why I always put the ILS freq in even when I do a visual. That's just being damn lazy and takes what 2 seconds to have the FO look up the freq just to make sure. Not like they have anything else to do while the AP flys. Maybe that show on their iphone is just too interesting.

Yeah but Puddle is hard to spot in the summer, since there's a series of ponds, and which one is which. Right now though, it's impossible, it's all smooth white out there, which makes reporting puddle a "close enough" event.

hmmm, i know of a und/mesaba former cfi that got lost while taking some hs students on a tour. she had to get assistance from msp to gether back to the field. mind you there was a ncie river that leads to the field and the plane was equipped with VOR's.....
:laff::sarcasm:
