Allo from Frankfurt! Well, actually Mainz.

Just finishin a quick 'holiday' of sorts with Kristie over the weekend.

Guten Tag

I spent May and early June 2004 there working across from Frankfurt Intl at Rhein-Main. I enjoyed it. Went to Hahn where my grandfather was stationed in the '60s and saw the house my dad and his siblings grew up in ... a house in a very small, rural village about 10 minutes away.

Enjoy yourelves!

that picture of the wiesbaden hbf brings back memories. I took the train up there once with my older brother to get a new passport at the US consolate (sp?) there. Then we went to watch planes at Frankfurt :-)

I was just in Wiesbaden HBF a couple of weeks ago. Awesome city! Did you guys get a chance to hike up Neroberg mountain?

Right now, I'm finishing up an internship with Lufthansa and work at Frankfurt Airport. I'll keep an eye out for you and Kristie at the airport tomorrow

You two gonna come back singing "Deutschland uber Alles?"

I remember having to translate that back when I studied German in high school and college. Everyone acts like it's such a horrible, racist song.

That would be a negative. It's telling the German people to put Germany first.

Germany's fantastic. I was only there for a little less than 24 hours so it was mostly a food fest/bar crawl and "Dangit! The trains up the Rhien towards Koblenz are out of service! Argh!" then bar crawl some more.

Nothing like coming home smelling of Franziskaner and cigarette smoke!

so jealous

Probably the funniest thing was when I told Kristie and her friend Linda that "Hey, those women over at that table are flight attendants" because of the 'hair' and it turns out that they were the flight attendants on our FRA-CVG flight working our section.

The weather was in the hi-30's/early-40's and normally I'm ok, but when the wind started picking up, holy cow!

it is always easy to spot the foreigners over there. Especially walking through a train station. Glad you had a good time. I really really really need to get back there.

well, when you do.. let us know and we'll join you over there for a konig or something dunkel! haha

My girlfriend and I hit this really cool heavy metal club while we were there called Alexander the Great.. it looked goth inside, but all the music was heavy metal. We met this local character and tried to converse with him with what german we knew and using the Rick Steve's german vocab book.. man, that books SUCKS SH%T...do not use that book! I'm thinking of writting my own with verbage that does not include sentences like "what planet are you from".. sheesh.. we were so embarassed! but we could talk bier und musik... so it was still fun! I'll have pictures up in a few days or so.

HOTEL KONIGSHOF right near the main train station in Mainz is UBER KEWL! best sparse european hotel i've EVER stayed at... we HIGHLY recommend it!

Planning on it, Dublin too. Thankfully one of us has at least a small amount of experience with the languages in each of the country's we're going to so we shouldn't be 100% lost.

Go to London - for the most part they speak the same language.

[/ QUOTE ]yeah and if you wanna lose weight.. we recommend it! hahahhaha

London is kewl for the "tower of london" and some other sites like St. Paul's Cathedral, the Thaymes & Westminister.. but if your going for a culinary experience, get outside of london!

I've really been hankering after a Europe trip lately ... I'll have to keep an eye on my checkbook and the loads in BizElite ... haven't been to London in six years! Everybody thinks its great the flight is free but then you've got to eat and lodge once you arrive!!

And the dollar SUCKS now. Now I know what it's like to be Canadian.
