Germany

Hey Doug- could take some pictures with your phone?

[/ QUOTE ]

Huh?

Take some pictures in Germany with your camera-phone and post them on "Pictures from the road 2.0"

Umm...he's already back. Also, that pic of the train station is in Germany.

ok thanks. sorry about the confusion. I knew something wasn't right. Forget everything I said about taking pictures.

Thanks!

I didn't understand the question.

I arrived about noon on saturday and flew back to the U.S. about 11:30am sunday.

The wife and I just got back from a few days in jolly old England. Left Wednesday night and got back a few hours ago.

Went to the west country, visited friends in Barnstaple (North Devon). Great fun in that area for a couple of days, and then 1/2 day in London to finish.

I miss the pubs already. John Smiths anyone?

you can get an internship at EDDF as an american? If so, does it pave the way for any connections to Lufthansa or the daughter City-Line?

if your going for a culinary experience, get outside of london!

[/ QUOTE ]

I resent that comment.
I miss the food back home.....the bacon and sausages are MUCH better, and you can get many more flavours of crisps! Then there's Heinz baked beans, jaffa cakes, Cadburys chocolate, HP Sauce, gammon steak (with optional pineapple ring), doner kebabs, decent cod and chips, decent curry, shepherd's pie, scotch eggs, etc. etc.

Of course if you ask for a Sloppy Joe in London, you'll get a puzzled look.

Are these related to the River Thames and Westminster?

Devon is wonderful. Did you go up on Dartmoor at all? That's always cool.

I believe we went through Exmoor to the coast (across from Wales). Don't know if that is similar to Dartmoor, but it was very cool.

Sounds like fun! I loved the Mainz area when I was over there. Time to start planning my yearly Oktoberfest trip!

I usually go twice a year to Europe...once to sight see new things and once during Oktoberfest with all my friends from college. Great times over there!!

Exmoor is a mini-Dartmoor, so yes they are similar. Basically wilderness dotted with the odd lump of granite, and sheep or two.

Exactly! The roads wind around through rolling hillocks, often with old, tall, and thick hedges closely bordering the narrow lanes.....and a couple of pints in a cozy pub at the end of the journey.

Don't forget the low stone walls that are centuries older than America!

The "moors" (Dartmoor, Exmoor and Bodmin-moor) are so quiet and peaceful - until a bunch of RAF jets on a training exercise thunder overhead.
