IMHO it has more to do with how they treated their sister company than hiring United furloughs. If Colgan had been growing while Pinnacle was furloughing but Pinnacle pilots were not offered a place on the Colgan seniority list (and NOT on the bottom as a new hire), then Colgan would have the same stigma. Thankfully, that never happened, and with our new contract, it won't. Sadly, TSAGoJetsCompass are still three separate companies under one corporate umbrella, so we're seeing the same thing happening again: TSA furloughing, Go Jets growing.
Think it would have gone over well if Delta and NWA were kept separate post-merger, NWA started furloughing because DC-9s were getting parked but Delta was hiring because of new 777 deliveries? Never would know because the kind of backstabbing that goes on at the regional level is not near as prevalent at the majors....
