Full Length v Intersection Departures

If I have the numbers, the conditions permit, it's briefed up and everyone is on board. Good to go.

If it would take me longer than 5 seconds to explain to the NTSB my decision making process after I went off the end of shorter length, then, ah, no.

Aside from using different performance data, which is usually no big deal, using an intersection might not get you airborne, faster. It all depends on the preceeding departure traffic and wake turbulence category. Internationally, at most busy airports it's better if everyone is using full length, since intersections usually increase departure spacing by an extra minute. Some local regulations still differ, depending on where you are. Some places/countries even prohibid intersection departures by law.

In Europe it's not really common to actively ask for intersections, if not offered by ATC. There are too many airports running right on the edge of their actual capacity limit.
