Frontier

I was at OBAP this week, and the lines for JetBlue and Spirit were already long by the start of the day; the line for Frontier? Oh wait, there were at best perhaps two or three people waiting to be graced by the recruiters. That cannot be good for F9's recruiting efforts.

Yea I must say I am perplexed. They have far and away the most aggressive growth plans of any U.S. carrier over the next 6 years and yet they seem to have no interest in attracting people to come here. Something just doesn’t add up.

I was offered an interview. It’s not somewhere I want to be a probationary pilot right now.

Guys.

How long have you been on this forum?

"6-8 weeks, I heard it from a check airman" is code for, "This rumor is complete BS."

We know that but, Its one thing to tease kids with candy when they're playing in the street another thing entirely when you find them starving locked in a cage in a basement. I knew not to believe it but I couldn't help myself. Cruel, man, cruel...:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Will you go? They offered to interview me back in spring. I chose to attend after much internal strife so that I could obtain some interview experience. Thankfully, they turned me down, otherwise I would have had to make some decisions. I am sure that my lackluster performance shone right through, though. My personal opinion, stay and upgrade and wait it out until the retirements start forcing mainline to hire left and right. Just my 2 cents.

I got hired and made my decision.. I’m going. It’s sucks now but it will get better, mich like Spirit only a year or so ago. I have a friend who waited.. 6k hrs, LCA, 4 year. Never got a call. Don’t think it’s a guarantee. PIC isn’t what it used to be at legacy.

I was operating exactly under this mindset just but a few months ago, but my opinion is nearly reversed nowadays. I've delayed upgrade for personal reasons seven months ago, not having any TPIC is hindering the odds of me being hired out of the regionals.

Having gone to OBAP this week and speaking with United, American, Alaska, JetBlue, Hawaiian, Spirit, my decision to upgrade ASAP is basically cemented. Everyone told me either to upgrade or that they like to see TPIC. Namely, they were telling me in a polite way that my chances of being hired are 1%. The Alaska recruiter straight up instructed me to come back after I start logging TPIC.

I chatted also with a Frontier FO who was prior legacy ASA ExpressJet FO, he is trying to escape Frontier and no one is calling him without TPIC. Meanwhile on the unofficial FB life after SkyWest page, I see nothing but a slew of captains being hired everywhere. I think Frontier did me a huge favor by dismissing me, I'll stay and upgrade and hope some luck cometh my way, albeit I am envious that you will get to fly that Airbus! ;) Good luck to you.

I initially was going to attend the interview being that I live in Denver at the moment. After giving it some more thought, I'm just too busy to prepare for an interview my heart isn't there for. I'm in the process of moving to Dallas, finishing up my masters, helping the girlfriend look for jobs, and plenty more. Just not the right time for me. I'll take the upgrade in Dallas and see what happens from there.

I know the feeling, man. Also moving next month down south and working on postgraduate stuff. Good luck to ya.
