Frontier will get some bad press for this

Knew a family friend in NJ. Adopted a kitten for the kids. As usual, kids didn’t take care of the cat. He got sick of taking care of the cat and doing all the work. Return the cat? No. He told me he took it out to the woods away from his home and just released it.

A kitten adopted into a home, with no knowledge of how to naturally hunt for food, find water, just a domestic home pet. He kept the cat about 9 months, enough time for a cat to be used to domesticated home life. Dead middle of winter, I’m thinking that cat died a horrible death.

It took every ounce of energy not to call him an •. We moved afterwards to CA but if we stayed in NJ, I think this would be a friendship breaker.

I bet that asshat was a woke CA. transplant, transgender democrat. Newsome voting COVID perma masker liberal!

Like Pokemon, did I catch em all for you? All the red meat that is? Ha!

Nah. Non aviation guy. Verizon management something something.

Seriously though. The cat might have actually died. But you never know as there is such a thing as feral cats. Domesticated cats can become feral rather quickly, domesticated or not. They're still animals ruled by instinct and they practice hunting everyday rather sublimely. But hopefully the cat was able to charm a neighbors kid into taking him in.

People who abandon pets either in the wild, or to the pound are disgusting. And should be beat. Those animals imprint with you and they're absolutely destroyed when abandoned and they sit by the door of their cages. Refusing to eat or drink waiting and hoping for their owners to return. Yes, that would be a friendship killer for me too.

When my wife adopted her cat we went through a more stringent background check than when I got hired by the federal government

Ha ha. Yeah, we’ve experienced that as well. My wife and I have also fostered numerous dogs both in the US and Hong Kong. Every organization we’ve assisted has had a vigorous background check.

It makes me sick to my stomach when you hear about scumbags that abandon or abuse animals like the guy CC talked about.

Yep! Same! Sometimes they're too stringent though. I went to PetSmart a few years ago to adopt a cat. They were having an adoptathon. I was refused adoption. The pet owners were there approving adoptions. I told them that I had two other cats. They asked me if my cats were indoor outdoor cats. I said that they were mostly indoor cats. He got wrapped around the axle about the "mostly" part.

He wanted me to clarify. I told him that I live on the third floor of an apartment. And that I go out there with my then current two cats when they want air. I again was denied, because his cats were only indoor cats. He worried about the cats he would let me adopt jumping off the balcony (to their death, from that height). I told him cats aren't stupid, they wouldn't/haven't gotten on the balcony wall. They just sit outside, with me and enjoy nature. Still denied. He didn't think it would be a good fit, with already having two cats and them going out on the balcony.

I peaced out. Dueces.

Cats are stupid. My sister in laws cat did this exact thing 2 months ago from the 6th floor. Broke 2 legs. My wife’s cat when she was a kid in Turkey did it off the 3rd floor as well.

Legit question, could I have called the police for animal cruelty? Abandonment? Or is that not really a thing for a pet cat/dog?

You can do almost anything. But would the police actually GAF and show up? That's a better question. They probably would have just took your info and asked you to come in and fill out some paperwork to file a complaint. It would go nowhere.
