Free in-house Delta Pilot Job Fair

What? That I would like to help provide an opportunity to someone else that could use it? I was recently scored internally, it wouldn't make sense to go to this if that's all it does.

Besides a 23 page thread that someone created saying to stop spreading internet gossip about scoring, stop using the words Tier One, and that the In house fair will be beneficial if you want to work at Delta, the internet rumor mill starts turning again.

Oh, well there is a scoring process that takes place and my application recently went through the process. That's not a rumor, and it's why I asked the question.

I will definitely be there then. Thanks Clark. Sorry for the questions, just feeling a bit frustrated lately.

No one will tell you not to come officially. However, when there's a minimum time of 12 months between app scorings and you've had one done within 12 months of this event and the only thing attending will do is get an app score then it's clear what needs to happen.

My info came directly from the person in charge of overseeing this career expo project. It was probably his brainchild, too.

That's a little "misinterpreted".

So I'm assuming what you said earlier (quoted above) is no longer applicable?

I realize the contradiction but I heard this yesterday and based on from whom I heard it directly I'd lean towards the earlier info as being less accurate.

If you've been to a career fair in the last 12 months, there's not really a tangible benefit to attending another, UNLESS there were significant your application or you didn't do so well the previous time, but an applicant will have no indication of his performance.

If you've just sat in the seat for six months and have 6 x hourly average and there has been nothing specifically new, meh, I wouldn't bother.

There are no "points" or "score" that an applicant needs to ever concern himself with at any time. Forget the word "tier" ever existed because it was roundly misinterpreted and, at the end of the day, the criteria is fluid.

There is no consideration given for the number of times you've spoken with a recruiter at the various job fairs.

If you have spoken to them in the last 12 months and haven't made much progress, take the weekend off. There is no bells or alarms that are going to go off and there is no brimstone that will rain down.

If you have spoken to the team in the last 12 months and there IS tangible progress, it may benefit you.

If you don't match the minimums stated on the registration page, there is zero benefit. All of the sweet talk in the world and shined shoes will not make up for no degree or lacking 1000 hours of turbine (no PIC requirement). Literally the buck stops there.

Sorry, studying for CQ in another window and felt it needed more clarity.

Had a buddy at Delta recommend doing a prep company before going to a fair like this. $400 is pretty deep, Im curious if anyone here thinks its worth it before you have an actual interview.

$400 specifically for "job fair" prep? I think I've seen it all. If it's specifically job fair prep, what company has the balls to charge you that much for… a job fair?

It a conversation. If you can't have a conversation with another human about your goals and interests, take a quarter of that money, hit a few microbreweries, buy some rounds for strangers and practice chatting them up about your professional goals.

Sorry should have clarified. Its the full interview prep course not specifically for a job fair.

A good, reputable interview prep company will have a "client for life" policy you can use until you get to your dream airline. I see no reason you shouldn't spring for it before the career expo if your goal is to get on with any legacy/major.

I personally used Emerald Coast and they have the above policy. I fully recommend you look into them.
