Free flight training

@BAP, you actually got a reply?!
I applied a month after you, so I'll get my NO in about a month from now...
Thanks for posting though!!!

@mission: You're right, there is other ways and yes it's a good thing not to be tied to a company you don't know anything about. Nevertheless taking out any uncertainty in a profession such as aviation by at least knowing you're not gonna eat mac and cheese after you paid 50 grant or more for training is a pretty tempting deal...

@aqeel: Dude, are you a EU citizen? I'm German and Lufthansa has a program in which you can enroll... Downside: contract till you pay back 40.000 EUR...

Looking forward to more news from us Etihad hopefuls!!!:bandit:

Never mind, just got mine...

Please be advised your application has been reviewed but has not been shortlisted on 29/5/2008. Please feel free to apply for other opportunities that are a suitable match with your skills and experience.

Hey Aqeel!

Well Lufthansa (Lufthansa-pilot.de) has a programm with two years of schooling and a guaranteed job as FO after that. Downside like I said: You pay back 40000 Euros once you start work and only after that are free to move on, if you want...
You have to be a EU citizen and speak German and English.

unfortunately, some have taken borrowing to the extreme and invested over a 100K for training for a 20K starting job. Don't kill yourself in debt either.

I recieved an email today from Etihad stating I have been selected for stage 1 (assessment stage). They asked me in the email to report to NYC on the 25th of August. It is to be an information and testing session. It says though in the email to confirm several things, one of them being that I do not hold a CPL. However I do and I guess that would disqualify me. Otherwise I meet everything else. FYI, I applied to this thing a looong time ago. I am a US citizen and live in NY which is nice too but looks like im out from here. Anyway, just thought Id mention this.

I received the same email as the person above this morning. Too bad I won't be able to make it cause its my first day of college in AZ. Maybe I should just blow it off and go?

Ummm, yeah. Got the same email... but I also have a CPL, so I guess that is that! Also, there is no way in hell I would pay for my own travel expenses to New York! Sounds like it is more of an information session than anything else.

What about religious freedom over there? Are Christians allowed to be open about their faith and are there churches over there? That's something that would be very important to me if I were ever to move there.

Honest question, not trying to be rude: why is it important that the stranger standing next to you be aware of your faith? Such personal matters SHOULD be kept to yourself.

p.s., something tells me there ain't no southern baptist churches in the middle east.

No offense to Christians, but trying to tell them that is like trying to explain C++ to a cat. I'm not trying to be rude either, for the vast majority, that's just the way they think, that's the "mission" of a fisher of men, is to "fish" men.

I'm all for a home worship. I hate the pushiness of Christians, and I was brought up in it! :buck:

Does anyone know a good reason they would count that as a DQ? I think you'd be better suited, unless the flight rules are WAY different over there ...

Haven't found the time to read through the entire thread but anyone know how they would look at guys with experience?

I was thinking about this since I will more than likely be furloughed soon and wouldn't mind a change of scenery but don't know how they would look at guys with some time.

I'm at about 1100tt 500turbine 1000 multi. I'm hoping they would skip the training and send me into ground school on the airplane to sit as a second officer... maybe reduced commitment aswell... anyone with info... your help is appreciated! :)

HI mate thats great that you got already experience and your license as well. give it a shot and apply.
but i think you should try applying for actual pilot positions rather then cadet cos i think that you still need to do all the training for cadet programmes. but u never know ..apply anyway all the best
i am gonna apply after degree

good luck mate

I got the email to go to NYC on the 25th im gonna try to make it. I sent them a reply email yesterday but I haven't received the details from them yet.

I mentioned in my previous post that they wont accept anyone into the cadet program with a CPL. So even though he has all that time, like you mentioned, he should apply to an actual pilot position.

hi mate

congrats for being selected for interview stage. i also hope you make it and pass the selection process. please keep in touch and say wot happened in the interview like wot sort of tests and questions . it would really help me prepare once i apply after my degree.

Perhaps you shouldn't try to read too much into what I asked. I do not care if the person standing next to me knows my faith. I was simply wondering what kind of freedoms Christians would have in what is still a MUSLIM nation. I had heard that there were Christian chuches in Dubai and was wanting to know more about that and what restrictions were placed on them. Oh, and I'm not a Baptist.
