Frank Lorenzo endorses Doug Parker and US Air

I know all about Lorenzo. I guess I just don't understand why that matters regarding the merger. He's scum with an opinion.

The ALJ refused to approve their application, citing all of the compliance problems at Eastern that both of them oversaw.

Hell, let's not forget Frontier too.

Twenty-five House members wrote to Transportation Secretary Federico Pena urging him to block Lorenzo's comeback and told DOT that he needed to be banned for life because "he is not fit to own and operate another airline given his previous management record". The damn creditors ran him off the Eastern property finally.

He even had the nads to try and blame the unions for speaking up when he tried to start Friendship Airlines after destroying Eastern and Continental. The judge at Dot at the time said Lorenzo had repeatedly defied his orders and has filed "frivolous and vexatious" motions in his license app for ATX. Big surprise.

He even falsified maintenance records to maintain on-time performance when he was at Eastern. He should have been jailed for that! The man knows no lows.

.. and when his opinions are being taken down as gospel on the way to do business by parties actually involved in said business, that's bad. It's like saying, hey, it's okay The Emperor is backing this Vader guy. Vader seems cool, right? He totally doing his own thing, right?

Star Wars? Largely characters with daddy issues, anger management issues, control issues and incest. Pretty much the target demographic for the "Lifetime Network" minus the incest.

I don't see anybody who is actually still in the business taking his word as gospel. About 6 years ago, somebody in a town hall meeting in CLT asked Parker about Lorenzo in reference to something else and basically Parker said "when I don't have anything nice to say I don't say anything."

Remember, media outlets will give pretty much anybody a microphone and a soap box (hell, they gave you one through the 3407 Families) if they think it will drive up ratings.

Let's not forget System One, either. That software package was worth many millions, and he stole it from EAL to transfer to CAL for virtually nothing, then leased it back to EAL at a huge markup.

That's exactly right. He did this during the so called cooling off period while he was busy also selling off their South American routes and other assets. He was a master of the old shell game. Rat B. Can't type it here but you can guess.

Where is the wage money going to come from to do that? Im all for it and think it's deserved, just wondering how it's possible, since Im not seeing how revenues will be increasing due to this rule. Unless Im missing something. Even with less of a pool of applicants.

They went to work for what were once regarded as leaders and innovators in that industry, companies that were respected and well run, places were you had a future and employees were once proud to be associated with them and in return they were treated well. It wasn't that the employees were not smart either. That's the difference.
