Flying the real airplane (moved)

Re: Republic Hires 430 Hr Pilot!

It's not really all that expensive.

The AA 757's are coming with the ETOPS peripherals, just that they've been 'unplugged'. So a couple proving runs and they're ETOPS capable.

Even the MX requirements for ETOPS birds are different. There's a lot of crap that goes into maintaining an ETOPS aircraft.

BTW, here's a little 'insider information' that, well, isn't "insider" since I'm posting this on a public forum and google indexes the forum every morning, but the entire 757/767-300/767-300ER is going to get the 767-400/777-200/300 instrumentation in the next two years. Flat panel six tube LCD's for the entire 757/767 fleet.

Only about $100K and two days of downtime per bird.

I really need to get some glass time. :(

Every time I look and see EFIS tubes and Glass Panel, I think to myself "WTF is all this nonsense?" I flew a Bonanza with Dual 430's and never touched them. So I am a little shy in the new technology department.

Re: Republic Hires 430 Hr Pilot!

I'm getting a phat check after the 30th. :) PHAT.

Nah, Doug Taylor's getting a killer pool or a new pad. Mrs. Doug hasn't made up her mind yet.

You mean you'd dig up your nice lawn to put a pool in? Jeesh.

Where I am we USED to have in airplane training (stalls and everything) but once we got the jets that went out the door. First landing I had was into BTV, winds gusting to 20 off the lake. All kinds of fun.

Most of it! :)

Arizona + grass + no kids + no dog = me wondering why the heck I'm overseeding, once a year and 'ranching grass' in 110F for no other reason.
