Flying the CRJ-200...tell me about it please....

We all have ego's, we are pilots :) I didn't start any of this, I started a thread about what's it like to fly the CRJ-200 and the swinging dicks come out to play.

bunk22 - It was an awesome thread with lots of good information for you. Too bad it has been hijacked.

Gents - is there any chance we can get this thread back on topic??

Still looking to find out the makeup of the fleet as far as flaps are concerned (all 8/20, 20, or a combination)

I tried my friend, asked a simple question, many good answers and stories before a few brought it down.

Oh yeah.............THE "HIDDEN FMS PAGE" (as it was so called by my previous co-workers)

Say ATC clears you direct to a fix way down line on your flight plan. Great! Direct, fix, EXEC, off you go,
But wait....change of plans....go back to original fix.....filed route...etc etc.
Crap?!??!!?!?!?! Right???? Or not quite......

DIR INTC (Direct intercept button), then press PREV PAGE (Previous page)....and bingo. All the fixes that dropped out/were on your flight plan....are there. Pick your fix.....and your back cruising along like nothing ever happned.
NONE of the scrambling to find the flight plan paper, points on the map all over again, etc.

I had a captain last week not fly the wing on a 25kt xwind at all... this after making a 3point landing! I didn't say anything, but I did reach up with my knee and push the yoke in the proper direction.

Haha...I have totally done the knee bit! This drives me up the way...I would say 60-70% of the CAs I fly with suck so bad at crosswind landings...and I don't know if it is them sucking or they just don't care. I would hope they just suck because if you are side loading the gear that much just because you don't care, you should be fired because that is going to get them collapsed one day.

Oh no I agree!

To contribute something on topic. The fire test is more steps on the 200 than the 700/900 and therefore, more manly in my mind. :D
...but still a candy-arse regional jet, of course...

This post brought to you by Beta. Beta: Chicks dig it.

Man this topic was great until the last 3 pages. Very good read. Thanks for all the positive contributions people who have flown the type made to this topic.

All AWAC aircraft have selections for 8/20/30/45 degrees of flaps.

What is your question? They all take off at either flaps 8 or 20 depending on performance calculated magically through ACARS.
Except for MEL's and some slightly bent airplanes (aileron trim) you hop in one plane and its gonna perform and fly like the other 70 planes.

bunk22, congrats and go through training with a positive attitude. I talked with a new hire last week who's class was made up of former CRJ drivers and CFI's.
You will get a lot of "when I was at X airline we did this", so take all that with a grain of salt and just memorize the ZW way of doing things and you will pass the training events just fine.

My buddy just finished the training, he says it's pretty tough so I'm a nervous a bit but look forward to it. The AWAC guys impressed me quite a bit...the PSA and Republic folks did too (HR aside in Republic) but for now, I'm sticking with AWAC unless something drastic happens.

It seems you have an issue with my e-net attitude, I seem to rub you the wrong way. Maybe you don't like former military pilots, maybe you were a wannabe who couldn't make it, either way don't care. I'm glad you're not into it to impress anyone, if you were, I think you may have picked the wrong career!! I'm glad you fly safe, you're supposed to, that's your job. Well, maybe you have impressed me, if you have flown your entire career and made sure your pax were delivered safely, you've done a good job IMO :)
Responded in PM only because you've made a perfectly reasonable request to keep things on track with your original question asked.

I was just wondering about the composition of the fleet.

At 9E, the majority of the fleet had no Flaps 8 detent... only Flaps 20.

I highly preferred the airplanes with the Flaps 8 detent.

Like you said, Having the entire fleet the same makes every airplane predictable in regards to performance capability.
