Just curious how he flew 1800 hours more than you?
A lot of it depends on the platform and for the C-2's, unless we were deployed, we didn't fly a whole lot. As an S-3B driver, you would follow the airwing around when they went to Fallon and all other work-ups. S-3's were tankers, got a lot of time doing circles. He also did a full tour as a T-45 IP, getting probably 1000-1200 hours in those three years. He also did a shore tour flying C-12's I think he got 1500 hours there. He racked up the flight time. I was forced, yes forced as I had no choice, but to go to VAW-120 as an FRS IP after my fleet tour. I flew about 300 hours in that tour, the flight hours were awful. Maybe flew once a week as the planes were in awful shape. The only way to get hours was to go on CQ dets, I flew in 4 dets in which I gained half my flight time in those dets. My buddies got to go to Meridian or Kingsville, averaged 1000 hours in those 3 years....another buddy was a T-34C IP and flew 1800 hours in 3 years. The FRS tour just killed me for flight time, I'd have 3800-4000 hours otherwise. I look in my log book, months with 3 hours, 5 hours, 10 hours. Just the way it goes sometimes in the military
