Flight instructor survives East Hartford plane crash.

Just for context, the Pratt plant on Main Street is within the traffic pattern for HFD - right under a downwind to base turn or a crosswind to downwind turn.

@Autothrust Blue , can you interpret this article? All the information seems extremely vague. Surely the instructor said more. I guess the information is being withheld from the public during investigation.

Apparently since it was a twin engine plane it had two sets of controls. What an innovation and improvement from those dangerous single engine planes with only one set of controls!

I'd expect (sort of demand) that during an investigation.

Feds, unlike other people, seem to understand the value of shutting the frak up during an investigation.

Pilot and passenger argued in the air before 'intentional' deadly plane crash in Connecticut

An airborne argument erupted between a flight instructor and his student before their small plane crashed in Connecticut, killing the pupil, officials said Wednesday.

The National Transportation Safety Board called the crash in East Hartford "an intentional act," but did not disclose what led to the plane going down near an aerospace factory the day before.

The crash killed student pilot Feras M. Freitekh and left the instructor, Arian Prevalla, hospitalized with serious burns.

The two got into a fight after the Piper PA 34 took off from the Hartford-Brainard Airport’s flight school Tuesday morning, according to the Hartford Courant. Freitekh at some point said he did not want to keep flying the plane

This reminds me of one of the strangest conversations I have ever had in an airplane. A student once asked me while we were flying, what I would do if someone tried kill me. I then said that I was trained to recover the airplane from any attitude and that he should not worry about that. He then said, No I mean if someone really wanted to KILL YOU!!. Uh, if you mean intentionally crash the airplane, probably not much. You're a pretty big guy and I probably couldn't overpower you and by the same token if I wanted to kill you there isn't a damned thing you could do about it. I guess when we both get into this airplane we have to trust that we aren't going to try and kill each other.

Red flag, back to the airport, head to management's office.

I used to fly with a Captain who told a story of a buddy of his who was killed by someone who hired him for a photo flight (I think it was his father’s brother’s nephew’s cousin’s former roommate). They were flying low over the place the guy wanted to "take pictures of" and during a low pass the guy put his feet on the yoke and pushed. The guy was apparently able to get a radio call out before the crash to explain the situation but ultimately crashed during the struggle killing both on board.

Which reminds me of this gem.....

You know I get not wanting to be a pilot and having pressure on you from another source, but if this student really did try to kill this instructor that's just a damn shame. No need to take someone else's life because of your unhappiness...or take your own life for that matter!
