Flight Bags

I do need to find a good backpack for my second bag.
It's been a never-ending struggle for me. I'm currently using an older version of this bag and have been reasonably pleased with it after almost a year of use. Only issue so far was the bottom-of-bag pocket (advertised for shoes) zipper failed. Not a big deal for me since I never used that pocket anyway. I just sewed the whole damn thing closed with fishing line. Done.

I found one at Costco that is actually working really well. It's on its first trip, and so far I really like it. And it was $45.

Yeah with the colored zippers they look like they should come with crayola crayons
Other than the colored zippers they scream “this is also my range bag and I have a Black Rifle Coffee sticker on my iPad case and an inop sticker on the camera”.

I briefly considered one but seeing as I was annoyed with too many small pockets as it was I decided it wasn’t a good option

I'm pondering going back to my old faithful flight kit bag from the old days. At least I know it'll fit in the 737 in the spot that was designed for it.

It's really, really nice.

That is made by one of our 74 captains. Good dude. I never did buy one of his bags though.

Due to the vicissitudes of scheduling, I had a night at home during my last trip, and with one day left, I decided to pull a switch and swapped out my cooler bag for my Brightline, again, because I hadn't used it in a while. I know the Brightline gets a lot of hate....but....

...it just works for me. It's compact and fits nicely in the area next to the seat in the 220 with room to spare. I can reach everything in it without looking, and it straps up nicely on the Briggs (which is much quieter since I changed the wheels) so I'm honestly really happy with it. My only complaint is that there's no way insulate food in it. Which means being a three-bagger pilot if I want the Brightline, and my commuting situation makes that problematic. Others do it, I've seen it, and I've done it, and I just don't like being a 3-bagger commuting OAL on RJs.

So. I'm *still* looking for the perfect cooler/flight bag combo. I've tried pretty much all of them. Haven't found one I'm in love with yet.

He's a good guy and very thoughtful about how he makes his stuff. They're working on a smaller version of this, and supposedly a cooler insert. I've got both that case and the 2-wheeler and I may go back to using them but I've got some logistical challenges.
