Most flight attendant policies require them to bed at least three pilots, two of which must be captains, within their first probationary year. Also, their number of sick calls cannot exceed their total number of pilot encounters. This little known rule is seldom discussed in public forums.
Good thing CAL has so many new girls huh! Although there is a little known subparagraph that you forgot.
-The bedding of regional affiliate captains, while not prohibited will not add to FA total pilot encounters. The bedding of regional FO pilots will result in a net decrease in the total and is discouraged.

It's information like this that enables and encourages some "I'm thinking of quitting" student pilots to continue their studies.
On a side note, what is the average age of women starting a career as a FA? I gotta be honest...Between having gone to college at two enormous state colleges, i've never met a girl who has ever had any interest in becoming one...
ya know.. you can get tail anywhere....where's the justification in spending 100K for that?? shoot, i'd save that cash and get a hottie car cuz you know that brings the girlies out![]()
It is only after some of those plans fail to materialize that they consider other things. Just an observation though...
There really is no average age anymore.
A new-hire F/A class will usually span the entire age range from 20 (or whatever the airline's minimum hiring age is) all the way up to 50. Some are career-changers, some are freshly out of college, and some have waited til their kids are grown & gone. Some think it'll be a fun thing to do for a while, some have "always wanted to be a F/A but couldn't because of _____________". Some want a career, some want a temp gig.
F/As are a very mixed group of people. You'll find F/As with advanced degrees and a great deal of education, and you'll find F/As who never even went to college. All sorts of backgrounds, life situations, etc, are represented.

I've got three girls at home. The LAST thing I need is another female in my life.
how do you handle that?![]()

I feel bad for my 16 year old son...Although on the bright side, he'll probably make an excellent husband.
Now wait one cotton pickin' second... "Although he's on the bright side, he'll probably make an excellent husband."
Let's translate that, shall we??? "Although" means "in spite of the fact that." So.. what you are saying is that dumb guys make good husbands, but smart guys DON'T??? Hmmm......
I'd take offense to that if I understood it.![]()
ya know, i've heard that too!!It was funny how she mentioned that some male FAs get many "requests" from pilots on the layovers, and they weren't from female pilots.![]()
