Flight Attendant Rant.

Why am I not surprised someone here would take THAT the wrong way? :D LOL
Besides, I'm old enough to be his mom! :buck:

Don't assume.....Doug, how old is she?

She certainly wasn't old at all, perhaps in her early to mid 40's?

I told the story during the bus ride to the hotel this morning and I got a lot more information.

Apparently the big "huff" is that the flight attendant is a former "Song Girl" and part of a new supervisors team that's trying to bury the "old, stuffy southern airline" image and drive it more towards a fun, internationally-oriented carrier. Some of the FA's that are resisting this shift have chosen the new supervisory team and ESPECIALLY the new safety demo as the symbols (targets?) of change and don't like it.

Then some idle chat about how the "original" FA's don't like the former "song" FA's because of hiring standards, RDQ, etc. Naturally, this is from a former "song" FA.

Of course, this is all hotel crew bus gossip.

Aye.

Excuse me? Unless I missed it, where did Doug say she was "old?" Do you think younger women are incapable of being "bitter?" C'mon....:banghead:

Couger,
No offence, but if it is an international trip for SJA and it's Western Europe, that it is definitely staffed by senior mamas, most of who are, or border on, being cat ranchers. That's just the facts Ma'am. (Sorry, couldn't resist that little dig:)) You might find a noob in the bunch, but that is like finding a needle in the haystack. As an example, I had a conversation with an ATL based FA recently who was excited that finally with 23 years of seniority she could finally hold Rome trips.

As long as they don't take it too far, I don't see the problem. Song took it too far. The so-called "fun" announcements on Song were just annoying as hell. Not to mention the psychedelic green interiors giving me seizures. But this video still seems very professional to me. I don't get the complaints.

Nope, you got it right. That is what the wife said too. But there is more to it also. Not only are they trying to bury the old image, but also the older (senior) FAs, metaphorically speaking. If that's too deep for you, they want to clean house and drop the average age of IFS.

AHA! So she WASN'T an old cat-rancher -- LOL! But by some standards, "40's" is old, I guess.
As a woman (and a FA), I'm not offended by the video. However, while I don't find it overt, there is a little bit of sexual undercurrent in it. Kudos to everyone involved for straddling that fine line. My only problem with it is--where are the hot men to "entertain" the women pax and make them pay attention? (right, Charlie?) :D

Sounds like the senior mamas better vote yes on the AFA if they want to protect themselves from being "cleaned out" of IFS.

Yet, they are the very ones who keep voting down the AFA and still believe that the company will take care of them. Actually heard one in the van bitching about how the company can just change their vacation, sick leave, pay and work rules, then in the next breath, when someone mentioned that the NWA Fas were union, "Oh, but there are more of us, so we can just vote their union out." Like my Grandpa always said, "You can't fix stupid."
