Why dont they move the A/C around based on student enrolement? This would also allow different locations to get the newer planes every know and then (such as the DA40s). It wouldnt be too hard, just have the students that are building their cross country hours do the "ferrying"

Uh... they do move planes around based on enrollment. Keep in mind, the majority of ATPs business (numbers, not dollars) is in add ons. These are short 2 to 5 day programs. Numbers change very rapidly. We had 15 (I think) people in the office today training (in the aircraft, sim and on computers for test prep). However, on Saturday there may only be 3. As for 2000 vs 79s, differnt locations have different types for different reasons. We have 2000 out here because they tend to deal with the heat better and have (somewhat) fewer MX squawks. We don't have a very good MX set up here so it is a hassle to get stuff fixed. Other places have them for other reasons. As far as the DA40s... nobody needs them except JAX and DFW. They would sort of just take up ramp space as most of the instructors and students at ATP don't ever fly them.
