Up for a limited time only (approx 10am PHX time) because of bandwidth.

No injuries and the FAA allowed McDonnell Douglas to put the aircraft BACK in service after some, err... repairs!

You don't have to meet the PTS short field requirements ALL the time...

Oh man, I was hoping no one would ever see that, it was my first time landing a jet, wasn't my fault.

Let's see...duct-tape or WD-40? I'll have to go with the duct-tape on this one!

Logbook write-up: "Autoland a little firm".

Maintenance corrective action: "Aircraft not equipped for autoland".

But not passenger service. According to my source, the aircraft was a MD test bed.

So, was that a good landing, or a great one?

It definitely was at least a good one, because they walked away.

And they can reuse the aircraft, so it must have been a great one. Or was there a line in there about without repairs?

What's the joke about the cute airplane and the one more landing like that and I'll have enough parts to make another one?

There's a private pilot holding short of the runway in a Cherokee waiting for an MD-80 to land. As the MD-80 passes the Cherokee, one of the crew gets on the radio and says "What a cute little airplane, did you put it together yourself?"

Not about to let such an insult pass, our hero fires right back with "Why actually I built it from MD-80 parts. Another landing like that and I'll have enough to build another!"
