"Flagship" Pilots:

We had a King Air do the same thing at my airport once.

I was sitting at the end of the runway waiting for release. Gray Clnc Dlvry said they had a King Air inbound on the ILS to our airport(Untowered). He never made any calls on the CTAF but we saw him land, taxi off, and park. ATC would not release us because the King Air had not cancelled. I told them I could see the King Air in parking, engines off, and people getting out. Still would not release until they called. Because the fuelers were out at the King Air, noone answered the phone when Gray called. We ended up taxiing back to parking, instructor got out and told the pilot's to cancel their IFR so we could leave. I wanted to tell them they were number one, and hand them a bill for some hobbs time in an Arrow, but I did not.

Is it normal not to be released because of this? I can understand waiting for an approach, but if I am telling ya I saw it land, are they just being difficult?

It's pretty normal.

Some controllers will bend the rules a little and take your word, but often not.

Now THAT would have pissed me off...extremely inconsiderate.

MTSU it's funny you posted this. My roommate flies for CMC and he flew into asheville last night about the same time. He told me today that there was a Flagship that had landed and not canceled their flight plan. Small world.

There was a line 4 planes long waiting to depart BHB IFR one day this summer, all because a Flexjet didnt cancel.

Not that it affected me in the least bit.:D I love VFR.

PS...It happens. Those that have and those that will.

You can't use that on these boards.. ;)

Butttt.. I agree with you totally..

I'm sure Flagship guys are the only ones doing it.. ;)

You know what really sucks about "Flagship?" Is when you say "Fagship."

I'm pointing specifically at the Flagship pilots last night.

;)

But why? Who cares? Aren't you the one that always talks about being positive and enjoying your job? Maybe you should just quit, nobody likes a whiner.

I would've thanked those guys for making me an extra $21.70.

I'm gonna make sure we don't close our flight plan next time, just so I can hear some people whine about it.. :)

If you haven't ever done it yourself, you can complain..

If you've done it, you have zero room to do so..

Next...

Wasn't me. Had a Flagship crew land in front of us in XNA last week, and they did the same thing. I wound up calling them on the Ops freq while we were vectoring around in the dark at 1 am and saying "Uh, can you guys call center so we can land?" They were already at the gate and focused on getting to the hotel. Oh, and they didn't hold the van for us either.

But we're not the only ones that do this. I've had to wait on Lloyd's airline to cancel before I could land, too. :) I doubt JetU really delves into the art of landing at an uncontrolled field too much other than "Make radio calls."

i was pretty surprised to see you xjt guys taxiing around asheville. would have never thought you guys would fly into little places like that here in the southeast.
