Ferry Pilot

I also just found out I've got an all expenses paid trip to Afghanistan for 365 days coming up in March with a lot of training until then so on my time off I'm just looking for a way to keep busy.

Yeah I know SeaPort is hiring which I would consider if I wasn't leaving although to be honest I'm not a big fan of Memphis I'd rather take their Seattle base...

Are they buying their own airline ticket or riding non-rev?

Aviation really does destroy itself from within.

"Hi, I'd like to ferry that 172 from Atlanta to Los Angeles."

"You buy the airline ticket, pay for your hotels, fuel and food. The customer requests free instruction enroute and is really looking for someone who will pay their expenses for the trip as well."

"No problem! I've got him covered!"

:insane:

I didn't read through all these responses the charge is 125/day plus expenses and airline fees etc. Not 125 flat, this is also the 172 rate since anyone and their brother can fly it. If I try to charge 300+ per day they'll just find a low timer to do it for free...:(

I am certainly not one for setting the bar through the roof but I would only charge the $125 per day if I planned on flying 3 hours for the day. When I contract CFI the lowest I will go is 40/clock hr and I do not go lower for ferry flights.

Let them have the job if they want to do it for less than that. Maybe $250/day at a minimum in a piston single if I was REALLY hurting. But then again, I have a full time job and my free time is worth alot to me. It takes a good amount of money to get me off the couch.

My day rate for contract flying is typically $375/day for piston singles and piston twins.

Fair enough. I only work part time and do the Army one weekend per month right now... so I'm just bored. I also charge 35-40/hr for my CFIing as well...

How do you get into this again? lol, Just over 300 hours, but I got non-rev priviledges, and 5 days off a week. Too bad they would just write me off as lowtime.

I think you need more than that, just think about insurance....I know of some low timers that deliver LSAs, long time ago liberty was looking for part time ferry pilots and I remember the time req was pretty low.

Cessna may need 162 ferry pilots soon, baesd on what I heard somewhere.

Whenever I've done this, I've charged $300/day plus expenses.
