It is because of all the Boeing lovers on this board that dislike Airbus.

I think it had not been bought up as 6 new aircraft for FedEx, is like Doug downloading 6 new songs to his Ipod. That is a drop in the ocean considering how many aircraft you have - do you think FedEx will break the 1000 aircraft mark?

It is relatively small, but 6 widebodies, nonetheless. I think we have about 42 widebodies coming in the next 2 years or so.

I am sure we'll eventually get to 1000 trunk aircraft, but we're a ways from that now. We do have the largest widebody fleet in the world, but we don't have as many narrow bodies as most domestic pax carriers, with only 130 or so 727s (I think).

Disregard my question above, I found it on fedex.com.

670 aircraft, including:

47 Airbus A300-600s
62 Airbus A310-200/300s
18 Boeing 727-100s
94 Boeing 727-200s
30 Boeing DC10-10s
17 Boeing DC10-30s
36 Boeing MD10-10s
5 Boeing MD10-30s
57 Boeing MD11s

2 ATR 72s
29 ATR 42s
10 Cessna 208As
246 Cessna 208Bs
17 Fokker F-27s

899 stations (673 in the U.S.; 226 outside of U.S.) and 10 air express hubs:
Asia Pacific: Subic Bay, Philippines
Canada: Toronto, Ontario
Europe/Middle East/Africa: Paris, France
Latin America-Caribbean: Miami, Fla.
United States: Anchorage, Alaska
Fort Worth, Texas
Indianapolis, Ind.
Memphis, Tenn. (SuperHub)
Newark, N.J.
Oakland, Calif.

Wow -- I want to fly for FedEx.

I have a question about FedEx. I have seen that they have acquired numerous second hand DC10s over the years. I was curious as to how long these DC10s will serve with FedEX, considering their age? Can they fly them for many more years?

Ahem, retroffited to become the venerable "MD-10".

Yes, and I would assume that in order to justify pouring money into them to make them an MD10, they will be around for a while yet?
