"fat tax" for larger passengers?

If you're too fat to sit in a car, you don't buy the car.
If you're too fat to sit in a roller coaster car, you don't ride on the coaster.
If you're too fat to go through a door opening you don't go through the door.
If you're too fat to sit in a seat you don't go on the plane. Period.

It won't be long till a fat person sues the airline under the guise of a disability and soon fat people will get free first class upgrades if they can't fit in a "regular" seat. Encouraged for being fat, it's the American way.

:yeahthat::chair:

Next time you go into the post office, put a standard first class stamp on a big huge heavy box and try to mail it...They will laugh at you! If you use more space, you pay more to ship it. The airlines are in the shipping business, moving a product fom a to b. the more you weigh the more it cost!

Some how people think they deserve to...wont go there, entitlement, thats lav stuff!

True but what does the airlines "contract of carriage say"? Are they shipping weight or shipping people?

From Delta's:

9. Carrier undertakes to use its best efforts to carry the passenger and baggage with reasonable dispatch.

What about those that truly have glandular problems? Should they have to pay more just because they were born a certain way?

OK here's the thing with getting fat. If you eat the same amount of calories that you consume throughout the day you don't gain any weight. My wife has a thyroid issue which a typical side effect is increased weight. Even so she weighs 130# and is 6' tall. Glandular issues don't magically create calories. Eating food does.

Yes I over simplified just a tad, but in reality we (pax) are just a commodity. It’s getting to the point where I think boxes are getting treated better then passengers.:insane:

Simple truth is, if you need two seats, buy two seats!

Here is bigger question. Why should the airline HAVE to accommodate someone who will not fit in a seat? If a sick/injured person is being transported on a stretcher they fly on a specially equipped plane, at (I'M SURE) A much higher fee then a coach seat!

You do not have to fly. Take a train, drive your car, whatever.

and yes. if you don’t fit in one seat you should buy another

If it's about taking up more space, then yes.

The issue isn't the reason why you're taking up more space. It's the fact that you are taking up more space.

It can be because you're a lazy slacker that sits around all day long and does nothing but chug Cokes and slurp down Twinkies. It can be because you're built like Ahnold during his steroid popping days. It can be because you're a NFL lineman.

Who cares WHY you take up two seats?

If you do, you need to pay for them.
