Family Airlines

If anybody has some spare time on their hands, this is actually pretty funny.
http://crankyflier.com/2009/08/19/family-airlines-gets-smacked-by-the-dot/comment-page-5/#comments"Captain Dan" tries to convince everyone how viable of a business plan it is in the comments section. He's so optimistic about it I actually kind of feel bad for the guy.

I love this photo comment on their facebook page:

Leslie Jackson: "Steal a picture of a Swissair 747-300 and photoshop this fictional trainwreck on it"

YUP...I don't believe they have any intention of actually starting up. The just open a hiring window charge SJS pilots a bunch of money to accept a resume and then they go away for awhile. I can't believe they have been shut down for fraud yet.

Did they have a hiring window not too long ago?
In the 80s they actually had a 747 fully painted and ready to fly. I think they even sold tickets for LAX-LAS-JFK. Yes, LAX-LAS in a 747.

I can't wait until they start making that Tampa/West Palm Beach run in their 744.

I had a kid (15) contact me a few months ago telling me that he was the CEO of the re imagined Pan Am. Even his business plan seemed to make more sense than this.

And holy stock photos batman!

Avatar Airlines? Will they use airbending for propulsion instead of burning fuel? Maybe that's how they will be able to offer their 50% lower fares than existing airlines:

Is this part of some Online Flight-Sim thing? It can't be real.

Best deal since Gulfstream. And you'd get to fly a shiny 747, not just a Beech 1900! :sarcasm:

If you can't afford the $5,000 for a captain interview or $3,500 for a FO interview, you can still get an hour in the 747 simulator by investing (donating?) $2,500:

Fly the 747 Simulator – $2,500
"Experience an hour ride in a 747-400 simulator with your own personal instructor. Whether it’s your first time on the flight deck, or you’re an experienced simulator pilot, perfect your skills with a series of take-offs and landings, or fly from one city to another. You'll also receive a photo and a signed flight certificate."

For $1,000 you get your name on a donor tree like they're a non-profit organization:

"Visionary Tree of Life – $1,000
Avatar will display a larger bronze Visionary Tree in a prominent place in main lobby of its headquarters for all to see. The tree will display the names of those who agreed with Avatar's vision and helped make airline history by being among the first to support this airline for the people. Each bronze leaf will have a name inscribed upon it which can be your own, or an individual you would like to memorialize."

I want to see the cheap desk in Boca that is the headquarters with the small version of the Visionary Tree before I send money.

Suit yourself. I already sent them my $1,000. I can't think of a greater honor than having my name on a Visionary Tree that only a the few scam artists behind Avatar Airlines will see. And as soon as I save up another 2,500 I'm doing the 747 simulator. With 747 Sim time, I will be irresistible to the airlines! :sarcasm:
