I know some people who just brain farted. I busted 2, IR and MEI, none were because of my CFI's. It was because of me.

Yep. I know an instructor that sent up a guy that was acing all the maneuvers. Guy brain farted on the last landing and forgot to put the gear down. The examiner had to tell him to go around and busted him. Honestly, that's a deserved bust, but it doesn't reflect poorly on the instructor.
