Anyone have some information on this?

I submitted my application and am waiting to hear back. If I am qualified, what is the best way to study for this knowledge test? I believe it will be similar to the CFI Airplane test, but not sure.

Sorry to Necropost. Did anyone figure out how to study for this test? Is there a question bank somewhere?

A good way to make $500 a day. I was approached to be a DE but didn't pursue it. Now I wish I did as my aviation knowledge slowly fades away with disuse.

I won't come into work on a day off for less than $1,000 a day, and really I'd prefer for it to be higher than that. Once you get to the point of being a regional captain it's really not hard to talk about that kind of scratch on your days off. If you are paid $75 an hour and pick up a trip at 200%, find yourself a 7 hour day trip and the beer flows like wine.

True, but it is a change of pace from the daily grind. Like getting paid for a hobby.

Last I heard the Feds were paring back the DPE program, and you pretty much need to douse yourself with a mixture of unicorn tears and the sweat from wood nymphs for consideration.

And meanwhile trying to schedule a checkride with a DPE takes weeks or even months and they are charging a kings ransom per checkride.

Was it recently that you heard this? And where does one find unicorn tears?

I was just talking to my local FSDO and they said basically the same thing. Under the new setup they have, they are so undermanned that they aren’t even sure how they will oversee their current DPEs much less add any new ones. That a long with the decline in checkrides unless you are in a FSDO that has a lot of foreigners training equals less demand. I know the examiners in my FSDO are fighting hard to block any new DPE from being appointed even as a few leave because they want to pick up the slack and put that cash in their pockets. Even to the detriment of the schools having to wait weeks sometimes for checkride
