FAA Email?

Did anyone else get an email from the Air Traffic Organization in DC asking for you to tell them where you are in the hiring process?

I received it as well. Seems pointless and ignorant for the FAA to do this since they have all our info on their cute little network.

I mean no sarcasm with this question... I was curious about this before Beehives reply above, which spurred me to go ahead and ask:

Isn't the question that the FAA is asking pretty much exactly the same thing that nearly everyone on these forums has been trying (in many cases for months on end and in nearly every case with precious little success) to find out from the the outfit that was contracted to run the hiring process... by the FAA?

I applied in 2007.

I received the same e-mail; along with the 800 other recipients.

I guess it is good to know how many people are also in line for these jobs.

They are trying to hire 1,500 people this year RIGHT??????

I got the email. Seems to me this is a huge bureaucracy with very little communication between the departments, I would have thought that they would have had all of our information in a computer program.

Spoke with OKC yesterday, and it looks like the hiring contractors/FAA HQ/ and OKC have their hiring numbers jacked up....

I received the same e-mail; along with the 800 other recipients. I can view all of the recipients e-mail addresses.

That really bothered me. This is the reply I sent:

"Dear Ms. Navarrete:

Thank you very much for respecting my privacy by sharing my e-mail address (which incidentally contains my first and last name) with tens of other applicants. It comes to no surprise that the FAA is unable to keep track of each candidate's hiring status when its employees are unable to figure out how to properly use something as simple as the Bcc: feature on their mail client.

For what it's worth, here's where I stand:

(I typed a date next to each of the 10 steps I completed)"

Good for you! I didn't get the e-mail but I can't believe they didn't use BCC or know where everyone is in this process!

By the way it was almost 800 but who's counting?

:yeahthat:

I did not have the nerve to say anything. I did ask if there is anything I could do to speed up the process. Then I thought about it and they probably won't read all 800 replies.

Everyone should be aware if you get any e-mails requesting personal information make sure it is legit.

Affirmative. Here is the e-mail-
I am with the Air Traffic Organization, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), in Washington, D.C. As you know we are currently pursuing candidates who have applied for consideration as air traffic controllers. Out information indicates that you have been in process for placement into that occupation. Because there are several different lines of business in the FAA that must gather information on you and make a determination as to your suitability for a final job offer, we are concerned that we may not be up to date on where you are in the processing. These are the steps in processing:

1. Interviewed by an Air Traffic interviewer.

2. Received a tentative offer letter.

3. Fingerprinted.

4. Input of information into the electronic security questionnaire, E-QIP.

5. Medical physical.

6. Psychological factors examination.

7. Drug Tested.

8. Received a final offer letter.

9. Have a reporting date to the FAA Academy.

10. Have already reported to the FAA Academy .
(date)

Please identify all the steps you have completed from the listing above. If you have informed an FAA contact that you do not wish to be considered for placement, please provide that information as well.

Our goal is to process and bring individuals on board as quickly as possible with consideration for any special circumstances that you might have. Please respond to this e-mail at the above address no later than April 28, 2008. Absent your response, we will consider you to no longer to be interested in becoming an air traffic controller.

Ouch - that's a quick way to get your application eliminated. Sarcasm is not appreciated by anyone, I assure you. You insulted both her and her employer - what makes you think in any way that they'd want to hire you now? I don't care what college you graduated from or what your qualifications are, if you sent that email to me and I was a hiring manager, I sure as hell wouldn't hire you.

The FAA may have its problems, but you're still the one seeking employment from them. Don't forget that.

Uh oh! Does this mean that they have already hired a lot and will be slowing down, or does it mean that they still need to hire a lot more?

ABC wrote that he/she had completed each of the ten steps, so he/she is in OKC.

I got $100 that says I will still be hired. Wanna bet? And they are not hiring me because of my college degree, qualifications, or any other reason, but just because I have a pulse, scored high enough on the ATSAT, and my background is squeaky clean. It's unfortunate, but nowadays that's all the FAA is looking for in a controller and from what I read on this website I am not even sure about the squeaky clean background part anymore.

By the way, Beehive, I am not in OKC and I don't even have a firm offer yet. I only attended the PEPC.

It seems to me the only reason they sent the e-mail is cause they are trying to weed out the ones no longer interested by eliminating those who don't respond to the e-mail. Nice of them to make us wait up to a year or more for them to get their act together in this hiring process, while they give us just one week to get ours.

In that case, SoonerATC is right. You should have replied with what was only necessary. You've been to a PEPC so i'm sure you'll still get hired but if you passed the med, psych, sec and drug test and don't get a OKC date I guess you'll know why.:whatever:

Well said MrFent!

Ok well I did not even receive the email. How am I supposed to interpret that? I may not have been as far along in the process as some of you however. I am on a few referral lists, but I have not been contacted for an interview. I hope my application is not being trashed. That email is very concerning.
