FAA Announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232

I swear to God, if any of you make it to OKC before me...:sarcasm:

:yeahthat: Yea I'm sure none of us will. But I will be happy just to know that progress is happening. It also would be nice to have more assurance that I may actually get employed by the FAA....

...So with that being said..."For those who are selected..." am I under the understanding that not every one is going to get an e-mail for the location selections?

Back up - everyone who passed the ATSAT will get to make geographic preferences. When I said "for those who are selected", I was referring to those who are selected for interviews.

Only 2 states  ...Does anybody know how much preference managers give to applicants who are applying to the states in which they currently reside?

I just got off the phone with my aunt who works at ORD tower. She was telling me about this woman she was speaking with who is on the selection panel for this area. She says they are meeting at the Chicago Tracon mid-May to select candidates for June.

Has anyone heard anything regarding their region preferences yet? I still have not heard anything and its almost then end of April. I thought someone said we should be contacted this month?

We "should" be getting that email in the next week or two, at least that's what I have heard.

From reading these forums, I am pretty sure they are not sending these out until after everyone has taken the AT-SAT and there are still people (myself included) scheduled to take the test early next week. The last test date to my knowledge is 4/30. So some time after that I would assume.

From what I've seen, a large number of panels will be meeting the week of May 6th-9th. That'd mean we'd need to provide our preferences next week.

Does anyone have any contact information for Facility manager/regional managers for Boise ATCT. I want to do anything I can to get my offers to go there.

My understanding, and I use that term loosely, is that the panels meeting in May are still working on 2007 applications. I don't think the FAA intends to have our geographic preferences from the Feb OTS application in time for those panels. I think those who applied in Feb will make their preferences sometime in late April or May and then work their way through during the summer. I hope I'm wrong. I would like to be considered by the panels that will be meeting in May, but in my case I am on referral lists for states that I would not be selecting as a geographic preference for the Feb announcement. I even called OKC and asked if there was anything I could do to be considered by the Georgia panel in May and she said if you didn't have them listed as a preference OR if you didn't apply to the specific state job posting for Georgia in 2007 I would not be considered by that panel. I assumed from that statement that even if I made a geographic preference selection prior to May 6 I still would not be considered because the Feb applicants will be dealt with during a later panel meeting. If someone has more insight please share.

Remember "Mr. 100 on the ATSAT":sarcasm:, The announcement was for throughout the U.S.

OKC was probably supposed to have the preferences in by now but most likely they are dragging a$$. They might go off of the location of the applicant??? Even then, if a selecting official from a east coast facility doesn't like the experience of the home town apps, he/she probably wouldn't hesitate to choose a applicant from the west coast.

Be prepared for everything is my best advice.

Excuse me?
Sorry, didn't mean to strike a nerve with ya there. No ill intention intended.
they wouldn't just start throwing random offers at people with no idea of where those folks want to go.
I beg to differ. They could start by selecting twice the applicants they need for that facility, send out interview offers to the ones they feel are most qualified for the amount of positions they need filled. If any of those folks decline, move on to the next applicant(s). And for all the applicants they selected, but didn't get offered an interview, give the next facility a chance with them or throw'em back in the pool.

In that case, no offense taken. I wasn't sure if it was intended as a jab or not.

Well I wouldn't rule that out, but it just seems as if they want to get bodies into facilities as quickly possible, and it would be quicker if they at least had an idea of where people wanted to go. It might make sense for people who list "Throughout US" on their pref list.
