FAA Announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232

what exactly do you do? or what industry are you in that they are laying off so many people? i really want this job too...i am currently only paid on commission and i would love to be making 100k+ per year salary.

I work at a pharmaceutical company... I could care less about what I do, really. I work in a group that's reformulating hormone replacement therapy. The only thing I'm interested in is aviation and it's a struggling industry. I make pretty good money here, but my heart's not in it.

i know what you mean. i work in the mortgage industry and my income has taken a big blow over the past year...the ATC job would still be a decrease in pay to start, but to have the security of a high paying job in about 3 years is worth it. plus i get no benefits right now so that sucks.

Me either, there's no way I'm paying $300/mo for "insurance" that only covers me if I'm in a horrible accident!!! I also took the test to become a NY state trooper, so we'll see who contacts me first.

oh no, you might be one of those guys who pulls me over every time i go upstate..haha

I have created this thread with for a couple of reasons. The main reason being is that it seems no one can get any answer about the timeframe for testing, interviews, or training dates for the last nationwide OTS announcement. I'm hoping that people who applied for this announcment will keep everybody updated on when they are testing, when they get an interview, etc.

I first hand know that anything you do involving a government job takes way too long, so hopefully we can share are progress and get an idea when we can test, interview, etc.

Personally, I was told so far via the ASAP website that I have been selected for the AT-SAT. This happened for me two days after the announcement AAC-AMH-08-PUBNAT1-08232 closed. Since then I have heard nothing from the FAA (and I have called the "help" number).
Just took the test Thursday in NY. Bummed that I scored so low! Still, I'm trying to remember that, at least I passed. Low score and all, I still hope that I hear something! I'll keep yall posted and hope you all do the same!

Hey guys. My first day on this forum. Currently living in Atlanta. Applied to a few statewide job postings last year and have been referred to Indiana and Kentucky however I am trying to work here in ATL. I applied for this nationwide announcement in Feb, was invited to take the AT-SAT in March, passed, and now waiting.....
As others have mentioned, I have heard we will be receiving emails to state our geographic preferences in late April with the referral lists being created in July. If anyone knows anything about Atlanta and the shortage of controllers there please share. I would like to know what my prospects are. I don't want to turn down interviews in IN and KY, but then again I really don't want to move (as I have already moved 3 times in the last year and a half). I want to work here and apparently I missed the OTS announcement for GA in 2007.

Just out of curiosity how many people took the at-sat the same day as you?

Traveling from Pittsburgh- New York, Just wondering how many people are in each testing session, to try and understand somewhat how many people may have applied for this latest position....

There must have been at least 30 people in my session that the took the test the at the same time as me. And the shuttle driver (from the hotel to the airport) said that it's been consistently around that number. He said the hotel had been giving the test everyday for the last few weeks.

There was an exact number on one of the FAA websites that said they received 4,515 applicants for the FEB Public announcement. Now the real question is--How many people were invited to take the test, how many people ACTUALLY showed up, and how many people actually passed.

(Look under controller workforce--about half way down)

Let me know what day this weekend you get pulled over. Something like that always follows one of those statements!

No tickets this weekend!!! :D (I haven't seen a cop in like 2 weeks, it's hard to get a ticket when there aren't cops around) We'll see if I get one after work today when I go pick up my foster dog from the vet's office!

Wow nice find Trident. How did you even stumble upon that testimony. Did you see the new OTS announcement out. I cant believe they would still be looking for more applicants.... Like they don't have enough people already waiting to hear back....

Geographic Preferences

I've heard from two reliable sources that geographic preferences will be limited to the selection of 2 states at the end of this month, compared to the 10 seen in the past.

My personal opinion is that people are just shotgunning states without consideration of whether they'd actually live there or not, and the FAA is tired of having folks turn down offers. FAA probably thinks if you list 2, those are the top 2 you would actually consider accepting.

That sucks if we can only pick two. However, I would understand the thinking behind it if what you said is the case. Seems like a lot of people applied for places they really didn't want to work at. I'm interested to see if this will really be the case.

This is probably a good idea. I know I fell into this situation last year when I applied for several states. My life situation has changed and I am now on four referral lists and I am not necessarily wanting to move to any of these four states. If you choose only two states it should narrow things down. Still, I would think they could leave the option open to select as many as you want or as few as you want. In my case, I would rather choose just one state and leave it at that.

Well...like many of you I applied for this announcement and was scheduled for the test on April 7 in Atlanta. I got my test score back on April 14 and am waiting for a referral list.

I hope that nothing significant will happen while I'm out of the country from May 12-June 9. :bandit: I already work for a local government, I know the rate of speed in the employment process, so no worries there. I just hope that everything gets done before the end of the year.

My realistic expectations will be in the summer time; I think this is when most of the applicants on this announcement will have made noticeable progress.

Folks,

I just got off the phone with Career Services. They told me that all service areas would be meeting here in OKC the first week of May (May 6 was the date I was given) for the Feb nation-wide announcement with emails to go out about one week later for those who are selected.

The wait's almost over!

...So with that being said..."For those who are selected..." am I under the understanding that not every one is going to get an e-mail for the location selections?
