F100 & MD-80

I rode in back of a Simmons ATR with the six bladed props on it. My oh my what a comfortable ride. I loved it! Even had a spot for my bag in that aft closet!

That's what I'm talking about!

The day the company took those away from us in ORD was the day I started thinking about putting in my transfer papers. I didn't actually file for the transfer for a few months yet (had a good thing going with the schoolhouse), but eventually jumped ship to the mainline.

I liked the ATR's a lot. I thought they had character, a great passenger cabin and even though it turned out to be an enormous pain in the butt, were a great passenger experience when used with the jetway at ORD.

Nah, just big!

Two full sized jumpseats, loads of space and huge windows. The cockpit was so wide, on one of the jumpseats you sat slightly behind and to the left of the captain in front of a HUGE forward facing window.

[/ QUOTE ]similar to that scene in "catch me if you can" when they're taking off?

I like the ATR's from the first time I flew on one in DFW on ASA. Ride is smooth and quiet and plenty of room. A buddy flies out of ATL and loves it plus he has moved way up in seniority on it so gets really good off days.

I'll tell you a passenger unfriendly airplane.

The C2 Greyhound in the Navy. Seats are too close, don't recline. There is one window per side of the cabin. It is about a 4 inch circle. Seats face backwards. So loud you have to wear earplugs and hearing protectors. It shakes so much that you could easily mix cocktails by standing still but there is no cabin service... Whatelse?

Oh yeah, the pilots of the mighty C2 feel they need to dodge AAA on approach. At least the acceleration is smooth on takeoff. 0-110??? in about 3 seconds.

Probably wouldn't make a good revenue plane.
