ExpressJet - "possible Delta interview"???

"We have a special hiring agreement wtih several major aviation universities where students who meet our hiring parameters and pass our hiring process are guaranteed a pilot position when we are hiring and could be guaranteed an interview at Delta Airlines. Contact our recruiters for more information"

This is part of a job posting on climbto350 by ExpressJet. I do apologize if the thread title is a little ambiguous but anyway I didn't know that the company had something in the works with Delta. If they do I'm sure a lot of us would like to see the current employees get the same benefit. Or this could be all a tactic to get more applicants. Anyone have any info?

The deal was for Western Michigan University students to go to ExpressJet and then get an interview at Delta. I don't know if it's BS or not, but mainline carriers have been trying to figure out how to create an efficient pipeline to their cockpits for years now, knowing that there are going to be a lack of qualified applicants. Delta is doing this and talking flow through, American did flowthrough, and CAL was getting desperate enough to look at ab initio.

The deal is definitely in place but there are so many hoops you have to jump through that there might be a handful of people that actually get a Delta interview before the deal is shutdown.

Don't be mislead, Delta needs the deal more than Western does. What's Delta going to retire in the next 10 years? 6,000 guys? There are more mainline jobs that are about to come open than there are regional pilots to fill them.

Delta is having major concerns with finding people. Hence this program, they want to,start hiring this year but RA wont let them.

Sorry, bored waiting for my car to get done. >lol

Big wigs with "Delta" on their W4's or someone else?

I can guarantee you my neighbor will give you a taco for you trimming my trees. But my neighbor may think otherwise.

Where's this info coming from? I've had my app in for over a year now, and no bites. And, I would consider myself to have the basic qualifications...

Yes people who are employed with Delta with higher up jobs, just saying what has been passed to me from someone who has been asking alot of questions in regards to it. Could just be a wet dream.

Expressjet (ASA) started that program here at UND. Interview in your junior year, sign conditional offers of employment, allow access to all records. They then ask you to flight instruct for at least a year, and depending on how the ATP rule comes out meet those requirements. No need for sim interview (you must take jet transition course) and they said you get an interview with Delta, assuming they are hiring.

Delta isn't hiring. 750 were picked up 2007/2008 (plus about 250 NW hires), then another 300 in 2010.

We are delaying parking the DC-9's and adding MD-90's, which should have triggered hiring but Anderson is hooked on CAP EX restraint. He poo-poo'd hiring so instead those MD-90's are going to be funded by displacing off the widebodies.

...and ATL will go that much more senior. I'm really getting tired of doing nothing but move backwards the last 3 years.

I'd rather be moving backwards for 3 years at mainline than moving backwards for 4 years flying 5 legs a day at a regional:D

From what i've been told a delta interview is not a sure shot at going to delta. It's probably the hardest interview there is and if you bust it you are out for good.
