I got based in CLE.

Anyone know how long it could *possibly* be to get out to the west coast (realistically)?

Cheers!

It's a COEX base.

6 months I'm guessing. You'll hit the next perm bid and be fighting with everybody else to get out there, so even if you get awarded it you'll either have to wait to get base advanced or just wait until the date on the perm bid. I.E. The last perm bid that just closed is sending the last guys on like March 1st to their new base.

Hope not.

Bailing on CLE before the winter? Bah come on now, a CLE winter builds character....atually I think the coldest I've ever felt was doing a walk aound in CLE in late january. It was still about 10 degrees but the wind and snow seemed to make it a lot colder. At least you're too numb to feel anything by the end of the walk around. What a contrast a transfer from CLE to LAX in january would be....

Honestly I have no idea, I'd be surprised if you couldn't get out there before the end of the year though. Looks like the Jr. ONT FO was a U37XX which is the most junior class to have a base award on the latest seniority list. Jr. LAX FO looks like U33XX, but it seems like the vast majority of you guys have been going to the COEX bases. There are too many variables to know for sure, for intance, how many people are going to upgrade, and how many people senior to you that got sent to COEX are going to be bidding west coast?

CLE is actually a decent commute out of PHX...

But perm-bids have been running every two months... and are expected to do so for the forseeable future. So that should help.

I'm alive... Just barely though. I just did sim 4 tonight and feel like my arms are about to fall off. It was the "pitch trim runway" and "manual reversion" evening. I didn't crash! Came close, but we survived!

Now that I hear news about CLE, maybe I should have let it take me to the smoking hole... Cali or bust!

Note to self... and other newbies in the SIMs... Don't mistakenly press and hold the TCS button instead of the Quick Disconnect button during a Pitch Trim Runaway... ;)

At least I can pretty much guarantee that I won't make that mistake again! ;)

Yikes, the TCS button, that will make things harder... I actually screwed up the approach and submitted myself to the pain of going around and extending the agony. Got it down though. The sims are waaaay better than the FTDs, I have had a blast these last few evenings and we had a great instructor too.

Just gotta get through the last 4 sim sessions and hope for California.
