Express Jet/Eagle Checkride Busts

I was told by one of the recruiters for XJT in the beginning of this year that the most busts you could have was two.

Well, I applied. Hopefully Express and Eagle over look it, especially with successful 135 line checks.
I'm not a recruiter, but again, I'd be looking for what, specifically, you learned from the experience. Be prepared to explain yourself, and be honest about the failures. The only way to get bounced faster than, well, something fast with racing stripes, is to lie.

Busting a ride 5000 hours ago can't possibly mean anything about their current abilities. Asking a question about that would be a waste of the interviewer's time. He's probably successfully completed at least 10 line checks/initial/ATP/type or whatever rides at this point.

Fair enough. I'd still find it one of those interesting "personal development" stories, though. My motive would likely be more on the curiosity end of the spectrum.

Yes. I just need a new schedule, which is why Im looking at Express or Eagle. I have two types. No busts for five years. ( Including 135 IOE, line checks, types ATP etc)

Remember that airlines not hiring a person because of checkride busts has nothing to do with how they view their piloting abilities. It is seen as a liability issue these days thanks to Colgan 3407.

Don't get me wrong...it is not how I view things. Believe me, if I was in charge of hiring I would bring you in for an interview based on your qualifications alone and probably offer you the job.

I'm speaking strictly from the airline's point of view. But like I said, these days they may have a more relaxed attitude towards checkride busts given the short supply of pilots.

I'm glad you applied. If you need any advice or assistance in regards to Eagle let me know. Good luck!

My friends old roomate had 6 checkride busts, Eagle gave him 'thanks but no thanks' and then he got hired at Expressjet.

Hello all,

I've been a lurker for sometime now, and I finally joined. I'm looking to get into the 121 world ( Currently fly 135) and I'm interested in Express Jet or Eagle; However someone said if you have any checkride failures they will not hire you? I failed my CFI inital three times five years ago.

I now have 5500 TT 3000 Multi 2000 Turbine. CSEL ATP-MEL. Will they overlook the CFI bust from 5 years ago?

2 guys I interviewed with at XJT had the following credentials:
Candidate 1: ASEL Bust, Instrument bust, CFI Initial bust. He's livin' the dream on Reserve. Kind of.
Candidate 2: CFI initial bust, ASES bust. He washed out of training on the ERJ side.

Long story short, you should be fine!
