Bastian served as Deltas Senior Vice President - Finance and Controller from 2000 to March 2005 and as Vice President and Controller from 1998 to 2000. Bastian was rehired as CFO in July 2005. Mr. Bastian will be paid an annual base salary of $450,000. In recognition of Mr. Bastian's repayment obligation to his former employer(whom he was employed by for 4 months!) a significant portion of his signing bonus from that employer, as well as Mr. Bastian's forfeiture of substantial additional compensation from and opportunities with his former employer, the Company will make a one-time cash payment to Mr. Bastian in the amount of $350,000. It is the Company's understanding that a substantial portion of this amount will be paid over by Mr. Bastian to his former employer in satisfaction of his repayment obligation described above.
Didn't someone mention there are 6000 Delta Employees in Management? Oh but we need to cut those "$157,000" salaries.
Delta Air Lines Inc. is "tapped out" and can't borrow any more money to cover its mounting losses, making deep pay and benefit cuts it is seeking from its pilots essential to its survival, the company's chief financial officer told an arbitration panel Tuesday.
According to the company, the average earnings of pilots last year who worked the full year was more than $157,000.
