Ex-UAL pilot sues United for defamation

Unfortunately “on brand” for a couple of the management types that frequent those events. I had face time with nearly all of them before I got hired. The gamut of • I experienced from different people was ultra frustrating.

Hold up. So your Chief Pilot treated you like • before you were even on the seniority list? And then you kept trying to work there??

Man Alaska Airlines is WILD.

You might actually poop it pants if the few Frontier escapees on this forum started letting loose after, erm, amounts of beer.

I went by their booth once at NGPA and whoever was there looked at my resume, told me I needed TPIC then discarded my resume in front of me.
Hey!! Pretty much same here. Scored a meet the chief. Told me she liked my experience and story but unfortunately no TPIC so try again once I procured that, As I saw her shred my resume lol.

Well 1 month later it was now peak summer of desperation ‘22 that all the airlines were going through. The main HR gal reached out and I scored an interview.

Crazy times and good luck I guess.

Not dissimilar to what happened to me after I stood in line for quite a while to speak to an Air Line recruiter at WAI in Dallas in 2013. Chin up, or something.
I always enjoy telling people what it was like, for some reason.

Shucks, you couldn’t get a job at Spirit or Frontier without TPIC in 2017-2018, and other such comments.

Heck I remember being at the Hillsboro Aviation school house watching many in their suits sweat it out going through a crazy simulator ride to get on with Horizon. This was 2013, the pass rate wasn’t too high yet IIRC

The arrogance of past hiring practices. They went away in the desperation years of 2022-2023. Sadly, they are back and will be staying a while as being competition gets fierce again.

Did that in Dec 2006…thankfully I was flying a 414, so I was ready for it. I spent most of the afternoon teaching my other interview group power settings/etc for that FRASCA to make it easier for them.

Seriously man! Tell me about it. I definitely was in the right place at right time. Probably didn’t deserve it at all but here I am. Very lucky!!

It’s almost like folks earlier on in the decade whom went to one of those pilot mills. Paid their way to the right seat of a regional. I guess I’m a scrub just like them.

¯\_( ˘͡ ˘̯)_/¯

The sim for the OO interview was absolute hot garbage. I thought for sure I was getting escorted out after my session. The interviewer was like “really nice job, I usually give people +/-500’ in this POS”. I literally thought I just didn’t know how to trim anymore.😂

Paid their way to a regional?

Ah I see. So who paid for your Comm-Inst-ME ratings? Did you not pay for your quals needed to get intoa regional? Was your training free? Someone paid. Don’t really like liars to be honest.

I see what you did there! :)

Could you imagine, buying a job like the old days? :)

Outside of Gulfstream or Tab Express, how did buying a job work in the 2001-2009 decade?

I’ve been thinking. I think you could use some positive vibes on the internet.

I should make you my POC for people interested in working at Eskimo.

Do you have any ‘in’s’ in Pilot Selection or Recruiting?

I think that would be a good rebranding for you so you’re not always having to respond to people coming at you all the time. Thoughts?

I don’t mind answering questions or helping, we just aren’t hiring for the rest of the year. Last class was Feb 2024.

If you wait until you’re hiring it’s already too late because you generally build a team in the downtimes so that when the switch flips, you’re ready to rock.

You’re heavily social, it would be a good match, especially learning about the process and the omniscience is amazing.

I feel like I’m asking you out to prom, but I think once you turn the page from “that internet guy” to a trusted resource, it’s really going to be wonderful for you.

Let me know how I can help.
