Ever flown an airplane you just don't like?

Talking about types here, not necessarily a specific airframe.

What was it? What didn't you like?

I'm currently flying an Astra SP and G-100 (basically same thing) and honestly can't stand the things. I thought I'd warm up to it eventually, but I've been in it over 18 months and almost 400 hours and still don't like it.

It's a great job, however, and supposedly we are replacing the relics soon. And perhaps I'm over-exaggerating a little, but I thought this might be a fun topic.

I really don't like flying 172s. 152s are great. 177s are nice. 182s, 210s, etc, I love flying. Warriors/archers/etc, you bet. But 172s? I just ... I've tried. I've really tried. They glide well. That's about the best I can really say for them. They land short.

They're good utility airplanes. Hell, they're good airplanes in general... I just don't like them.

Yes. Sport airplanes. Despite the name, most are really meant to be flown by commercial or ATPs. Not kidding.

That's how the Astra is. They're relatively cheap, pretty fast (we flight plan for 455 KTAS which is closer to LRC than max), can do coast-to-coast most of the time, and ours at least are fairly reliable. Like you said though, I just don't like 'em!

The 172 is the Chevy Cavalier of airplanes. Meets every minimum standard, but just barely.

I was going to say Beech 99, but it's not so much that I don't like it, it's more like freaking loathe the fact that it exists.

The 172P's actually have a somewhat useful useful load. But yeah, easily my least favorite thing to fly. Thankfully, I hardly ever do fly them.

Yeah, I guess for me its not even about the usefulness. There's just no emotion when I fly one. Just, meh.

I feel the same way about the car I rented while mine is in the shop. Brand new Ford Explorer.

Very comfortable, Ford Sync was pretty cool until it randomly stopped streaming music over bluetooth. Ride is very nice. But it bores the living hell out of me to drive it. Now that I've driven a car like that, I understand why nobody pays attention while driving anymore, sometimes they forget they're driving at all.

lol... I was a 99 instructor at AMF. Wasn't a huge fan of that one either- don't really know why.

Wouldn't you like to have fun in the process? Exactly why I own a fun car. Just as useful as pretty much anything else on the road, but the feeling I get when I drive it...friggin awesome.

You can rent other airplanes for comparable price to accomplish the same mission. Absolutely loved my time in the Diamond Katana. Only a two seater and not IFR certified. But I'd say the piper warrior is a bit of a compromise in that direction.

I agree on the 172, just boring. Unfortunately such a standard as a training and rental aircraft every FBO almost "has" to have them and the cycle continues.

Love the katana. Let's be honest, it is a glider in sheeps's clothing, what's not to like?

T-tail lance. Needed 80 knots for the tail, landed at 60.... 20 knots of what I liked to call "no mans land". No wonder they only lasted a couple years.

The t-tail arrow had a similar zone of sketchiness

King Air. It does the job but I can't land it.

I loved the baby Dash though. I could do everything with that airplane. Landing and taking off out of Kapalua was amazing.
