Hi, Can some clarify this

If your airline is not ETOPS approved, does this mean you have to fly all routes within 60 minutes of a diversion airport?

And how long does ETOPS approval take to achieve?

thanks

There are other waivers you can get that give you more than 60 minutes (or 50 miles off shore), but they don't give you a whole lot.

ETOPS can take a long, long, (very long), time if it's you're company's first go at it. It can be pretty painless though if all the pieces are already in place.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Depending on equipment carried, it's:

50 miles from land
100/162 miles from land depending on latitude
One hour at cruise speed single engine (400 miles for my plane IIRC) from land
ETOPS which is something I don't really know about yet.

You know what dad pants are. Come on! Do you wear relaxed-fit jeans, polo shirt tucked in, beltless with white tennis shoes?

It's alright man! :)

No I don't wear any of that.

I hope not.

But we're waiting. Because one day, you'll realize how convenient tennis shoes are, how comfortable loose-fit jeans or weekend chinos are and, well, all the other dads are doing it.

"I'm not selling out, fellas, I'm buying in. There's a difference!"

Never.
