ETOPS approval process

You gotta be good at arts and crafts:

Not as purrrrdy as the DOT Printers y'all use for the release.

Send it to the iPads baby!

Domestic only uses dot matrix at the gate. International prints out their own on laser printers in the crew lounge. Of course, domestic can do that too if they want to walk from the end of say, T-1 to the lounge on A. Also, we can download the release to the Surfaces and extract the route to the Jepp app to self populate.

And don't expect 60% of Delta guys to even know this. Nothing like watching some guy pull out a handful of bulletins from his v-file and throw them away without reading them, while at the same time complaining about some checklist change he heard about on the crew bus and how the company never tells us these things and we have to find out on our own.

Umm sparky? What do you think was printed on that tree you just threw away?

T-1 to the lounge on A??? Huh?

We have to read the bulletins in order to get the release and/or check our schedule when we sign in online. Works well (I think).

We're currently in the process of getting ETOPS certified and it should be done soon. Flights to Hawaii start in November. I've done my online training for ETOPs, still awaiting my sim session and pool/water ditching training, and the route qualification check.

You still get paper bulletins?

It's marginally easier to excuse it when you sign in and have 8 PDFs to download onto the crappy Windows box before you can get on with your life. But if something appears in paper in my V-file, I know it's a Big Thing.

Yeah. Ain't nobody got time to walk from T-1 to the lounge on A and back, just to print out a flt plan on a 40 minute turn. Just use the crappy, faded copy that prints at the gate. We get a pop up screen telling us that there are bulletins to read, but you have to actually go to that screen yourself. They also put hard copies in the v-files and push electronic ones to the tablets. They also put a copy on a board right in front of the lounge door, highlighted in pretty colors. Ohh, they also email the bulletins to us, and include them in the weekly and monthly CP memos that are emailed, and put online. That's almost 8 different ways they supply the same information, yet guys still complain that the company never tells us anything.

Ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see.

I despise ATL so I avoid it at all costs.

We get both. We're not going over to full paperless until all the bugs are worked out.

The people who do not read their (expletive) bulletins will still not read their (expletive) bulletins, regardless of format.

We got new "company" email addresses (because there was too much non essential stuff going to our old company email addresses. So instead of filtering what they were sending the pilots, they just gave us TWO email addresses we have to check, one with essential things like FOM updates and one for EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF EMAIL THE COMPANY SENDS OUT. The worst though is that somehow we are on the IT outage distribution list so every time they take a system off line (and they seem to do it all the time) we get an email. And then we get another email when they bring the system back on line. And then we get emails apologizing that we are getting all these emails and they are trying to figure out a way to stop them.
