ERAU CAPT raising Rates !!

Thank you kind sirs, for letting me post in your thread. Sir. Yes sir!
Happy to be here sir!

Well, yes sir, the mayo is what keeps our skin tone so milky white.

Yes sir, I know which song you mean. It makes me cry in my beer and run off the road everytime I hear it on AM1340; Hicktune Favorites.

Yeah, and do you have a foie gras recipe?

I make a mean paté that goes well with tequila and doesn't stain if you spill it on your golf shirt.

Anyone remember that old SNL skit with Eddie Murphy when he becomes 'white' for a day?

Probably before everyone's time I guess. Man I date myself!

Unfortunately Doug CAPT is not part of the Degree program @ ERAU. So you don't get that either. You have to already have a degree to apply.

FutureLeader give CAPT a call and ask them how much it cost to be an Ab Initio. They will tell you a figure around $80K. They are using the disclaimer you pointed out.

Really? Geez, that's a lot of scratch. Lemme dig around the website and see what the "catch" is. But $80 grand is a lot of money to throw around and not come out with a full ratings package.

2 non-credit academic classes and one flight per day...for ten months.

And nothing more than a commercial ticket, and a restricted MD-90 type rating. RIP OFF!!!!

Ok, I was afraid the CAPT replaced the standard AS program.

Do I think the program has any value? Sure.

Do I think you need it? Absolutely not.

Would I do it? Nope.

I recognize that ERAU has to do things like this to compete because it's a extraordinarily competitive market. Once upon a time, their competitors were just the major collegiate aviation programs, but with some of the large flight academies offering 'sister' programs at local colleges, they're probably doing this to differentiate themselves from the rest of the market.

Not to diss the magazine I grew up with aviation-wise, but if you take a peek at the ads in "Flying", you'll see what Embry-Riddle is trying to compete with.

I think I would have offered an A320 or a 737 type rating instead of the MD-90, but last time they asked me to donate as an alumni, I laughed - so I'm sure they'd take my suggestion and put them in the 'circular file'.

I think it's a lot like going out for a hamburger. There's a $2.79 1/2lb burger wiff cheese and all of the fixings. But then there's also a $18.49 Kobe beef burger on fococcia bread. Problem is, they're both still hamburgers, but the $2.79 burger comes with fries and a coke, whereas the $18.49 Kobe beef burger everything else is a la carte.

I'm hungry, can you tell?

Kobe beef burger....haha....I could say something about his legal situation...but I won't.

You are right, ERAU is having to compete with all the Flying mag ads (I grew up on that magazine, too). It's a shame that marketing has been able to become such a big factor in the success of pilot training....it shouldn't be so.

ERAU should be using it's alumni association and figuring out a way to use all those folks who have made it in the industry as an asset instead of pissing us off with stuff like CAPT. Think about what could happen if they set up a mentorship program with the alumni and allowed young wannabes to be guided and directed by folks that have made it in the industry. It would be a natural for the wannbes to be led to ERAU by their alumni mentors. Of course, the problem is that many of us that have made it aren't all that pro-ERAU....and there-in lies the problem.
