ERAU CAPT raising Rates !!

Embry Riddle CAPT is telling new students that the price of admission is now $80,000. The program has not produced any paid flying jobs or interviews for students or current grads, and they are raising their price? $80,000 bucks for 250 hours actual flight time & you DO NOT GET A CFI, CFII or MEI, or COMM ASEL, unbelievable.

Man, you could rent a Barron for 250 hrs for less money!

I went to FSA for everything after my PPL and only spent $40K. I think that even that was too much. You get good training, but that much debt is a real burden now. I looked at ERAU, but I just couldn't justify that kind of money.

If I had to do it all over, I would have bought an ugly POS C-150 for about $15-20K and flew it 10 hours a day for six months while getting all my ratings. ;

What do they do? uhhh, good question. Help you to get closer to being a commercial pilot?
 
Seriously, what do you "get" with the program? Aside from the psuedo-ridiculous MD-90 type-rating. Guarenteed interview? Guarenteed job? (I prolly woulda heard about it if it was the latter.) There's gotta be something for that amount o' money.

I do not want to sound biased towards Embry-Riddle here, but let's give them some credit. Where is information being obtained that the CAPT program now costs $80,000? I been on the website and it says that the program costs $65,500 if you do not have any flight experience. It says that these prices are subject to change without notice, but the site is copyrighted 2004. So, I am guessing if any changes have been made they were recent. One may question why Embry-Riddle has such a program, but with a lot of career changes out there and these "Quickest Path to the Cockpit Programs", Embry-Riddle has to compete.

If you're not getting a CFI out of the deal, then they're not offering the same product as everyone else...they're not competing!!
 
However, in ERAU's defense, the other schools don't offer a degree.
