txpilot said:Okay, other than the fact I should have said most US airlines, what part are we betting on??? Unless you know something I don't, that is my understanding...let me know where you think I'm wrong.
Dugie8 said:you got it backwards a proffesional flight engineer (PFE) will have 3 stripes, a FE with an A&P, a pilot who is going to move to the right seat (notice I didn't say upgrade) is a second officer (SO) and has 2 stripes.
My experience anyway, I'm sure there are exceptions as there are to any rule, as I'm sure TonyC or DE727UPS will be along to tell me how it is done at a real cargo airline.

blakman7 said:What do the individual stripes on the epaulets signify? I have noticed that FO's have three stripes and CAPT's have four stripes. I have also seem some two striped epaulets. What do these mean? Thanks to all who reply.

ColMustard said:Am I the only one that gets a little annoyed when the stripes are worn in the middle of the epaulets? I was taught to wear the shoulder boards pulled to the outer most edge of your shoulder, that way they sit better.

Bandit_Driver said:Why are cargo guys always treated like 2nd class citizens? part 121 is part 121 no matter if you have boxes or bitchin' pax behind you...
Timbuff10 said:Not referring to cargo carriers as an airline makes you feel like a 2nd class citizen?
Timbuff10 said:You know as well as I do that most of the public thinks airlines are the ones that carry people around and UPS, FedEx, and DHL are just cargo companies that also have a fleet of airplanes.
They probably also don't know that cargo airlines have some of the highest paid pilots.

seagull said:At Tigers the PFE and S/O both had two stripes, technically, but the S/O was allowed to wear 3 stripes as they were expected to upgrade soon anyway. At FedEx they both just wear 3.
Doug Taylor said:To add a little confusion here, I had three stripes as both a second officer and a first officer.
My wings, however, didn't have a star while I served as a second officer, but once I upgraded to first officer, I got a little star above my widget thingy.
