Pinnacle is a good place to go to get dispatch experience. It isnt glamorous but it is a great way to get to the majors. Management at Pinnacle knows you are there to get your experience and leave. They even encourage it to some degree. Yes, run away if you want to stay more than 3-5 years. But if you have aspirations of working at a major then many Pinnacle dispatchers make it to major in a short period of time.
Pinnacle is a great place to go to figure out if you really want to do this as a career. Many dispatchers go to Pinnacle and quickly realize the career isnt for them. Those that make it beyond the first few months tend to move on to careers at the majors or find the regional they originally wanted to be at.
Despite what our friend LTDXER thinks not every regional airline is a ten year commitment. Pinnacle isnt for 90% of dispatchers. For the 10%, most find their way into the company managing structure. I think there is not a single line holding dispatcher at Pinnacle currently that has ten years in the company. Even back in MEM, only a handful had more than 10 years in company. Most were five years or less.
