Sorry to go against the common grain in this thread, but I agree with Todd (ATN_Pilot).

Pilots love to attack their union every chance they get. It's no secret that ALPA's reputation has been sliding. I see this whole "Tim Martins" thing as nothing but a reason for members to attack ALPA.

I've got no dog in the fight, not ALPA. But, I think the lady who wrote the piece should be cut a break. If you guys think more of your dues should go to "fact checking" the stupid magazine articles, then you really are naive. ALPA's magazine should stick to updates about the international. Maybe you should recommend that to ALPA. It's a Union for turds sake, worry about what they're doing for your company/workforce relations.

TIM MARTINS is the guy who should be 100% held responsible. He lied, he should take the credit. Also that Eagle e-mail is a joke. Nice to know your company doesn't mind having a pilot who is obviously a serious mental case liar behind the controls of your aircraft.

Why should they? Since the FAA doesn't now mind having those who use/have used anti-depressants flying same. ;)

I like the ALPA magazine... Don't forget we have some old fogies that hardly know what email is, so it is still a very good way to communicate to the membership as a whole.

Did you miss the tongue in cheek? It's that way for a reason.
God I hope so Sir. My outlook for this career field just fell through the floor if people are going to start throwing those that need some help under the bus all for the sake of making themselves feel better.

Carry on.

It's completely tongue in cheek. It's a left-handed jab at airline management, citing an excuse I could see them using towards those who try to point out what Airdale was alluding to..

I like having the publication, but honestly I think it needs to move into the 21st century eventually. I'd be happier if it was a PDF that was e-mailed to the membership rather than a printed magazine going out to EVERY pilot. If you wanted a printed copy sent to your house, have an option to log on to the ALPA web site, check a box and pay a little extra for the printing and shipping costs. For the old fogies that don't know how to use e-mail, they can call the ALPA secretary in Herndon to have their preferences changed. Saves paper, too, so that makes the tree-hugging hippie in me happy.

I mean, honestly. If the volunteer organization at the zoo can do this, surely ALPA can.....

Scary thing is that this guy was on another forum for years. posing as an AE Captain with F-16 expierence.

and 1 question Don't you have to serve 8 years if you are a Fighter pilot? If that is the case then how can ALPA miss this easily.

There is no full time commitment if you are direct entry into the Guard (other than required training).

Jim Hall, former chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board said if Martins lied, it should be of concern to American Eagle.
“Anyone who is charged with a responsibility for transporting the lives of other people safely who is evidently intentionally fabricating or embellishing credentials or falsifying stories, that’s obviously a terrible problem that should be of concern to the airline,” he said.
