Electronic Logbook Recommendations

I have flightlogg.in. Seems ok except is there a way to add extra columns? For example adding complex or multi or night pic/night dual? etc etc?

All the guys I know that have ATT have the same gripe. Customer service stinks and a lot of dropped calls.

Customer service DOES stink with AT&T. As far as dropped calls, I personally haven't had that issue in a LOOOOONG time. It used to happen pretty often, but I don't think I've had a dropped call in 2 years. Took away one of my excuses for scheduling. Wait. I take that back. I DID have a dropped call with scheduling earlier this year. Granted I was in the basement of the airport getting my SIDA badge renewed and was surrounded by concrete. That might have had something to do with it.

Have you been on it in the last 3 or so days? The beta became active for everyone, which implemented exactly what you want there. You've got the ability to add so many columns to your logbook now, that is almost sick. I can't imagine when I'm ever going to need a Turbine Multi-Sea PIC column, but you never know.

I used logshare for about 2 years and loved it.

However I recently made the switch to logbook pro and couldn't be happier. Much easier with data entry, much much faster. The reports and graphs are so far advanced and customizable, and getting specific data from my logbook is much easier. Like when an employer wants to know how much night cross country PIC I have, it's very easy to find. Time in the last 6 months, 90 days, etc.

It's worth the investment. Time is money, and it saves me time.

Thanks for the tip. I actually haven't been. I have only flown once in the last couple weeks, I don't think ive even entered it electronically yet.
That's exactly what I'm lookin for. After filling out my most recent 8710 I was pretty fed up.
So now that I've got excel back I am going to make a file for my computer and I guess will also go online and fix up flightlogg.in

Sure, but I'm a cheap college student, who goes to a vastly overpriced university. So, if I can save money somewhere, I'm all for it. So, free=good, to me. I don't mind having the logbook online, with weekly backups. I don't fly enough in a week to make me worry about loosing that week's worth flying. Perhaps sometime in the future, I"ll move up, but for now, I'm all for free stuff.

That is fine but trust me you'll want a more advance program when you have to start filling out 8710's, insurance forms and more importantly job applications. Believe me, I have filled out enough and let me tell you they want your times totals in some odd ways that most logs don't even track. Logbook Pro's filtering system can find that data quickly and easily for you.

At the cost of rentals today, Logbook Pro is dirt cheap and a bargain at its sale price $59.50 ($69.95 -15%). Give the FREE demo a try and log 50 flights into and let me know what you think.

I'm thinking about getting Logbook Pro now, especially with the discount offered now. But I had one questions. What happens if you get a new computer or something? You would obvioulsy have to install it again, but what about the data? Would you have to put it in all over again?

Can't speak for logbook pro, but I do know with Safelog, I've incorporated www.safelogweb.com to my computer safelog. Where ever I input on the web, when you open it on the desktop/laptop, they synch. I also have an external location backup if my computer crashes as well. . .also provided my Safelog.

Back up the logbook file, and when you re-install, you just use the same registration code you got when you bought it. Don't have it? No problem. E-mail the LBP guys, and they'll send you a reminder e-mail. I lost my registration code a while back, and after we did the verification stuff to make sure I was who I said I was, it was no problem getting the reg code. I e-mail myself a copy of my logbook file every once in a while to keep it backed up.

Ok. Thanks for the info. So can you downloaded the logbook data in like a .txt file or something similar?

I just got my logbook back in order tonight.

I am now using a google excel spreadsheet slaved to an online form to enter my flight data.

I can then cut and paste that into a regular old excel sheet to efficiently sort and search things. So far it is very easy and quick.

As soon as LBP has an app for the iphone and and online based program I'll be all over it, but for now I really like the idea of having my stuff on google's server. Much safer than my own laptop!

I have used Logbook Pro for nearly 11 years and all you need to do is backup the file using their FILE...BACKUP command built into the software. It creates a small compressed file of your logbook that you can email yourself, store on USB drive, or use their on-line backup service. If you get a new PC, have one crash, etc just download Logbook Pro again and restore backup and keep logging. As said earlier, the logbook Pro team stores your unlock code on-line should you ever lose it. I personally store my unlock code on Line 4 of the user information tab in Logbook Pro. That way you will always have your unlock code handy.

Logbook Pro can also export to EXCEL, HTML, CSV, and TXT. It can also import data from EXCEL, CSV, and TXT files.

Check out the IPhone APP Flogger. It can export a file that can be imported into Logbook Pro. The Logbook Pro team also does one time FREE file conversions for users switching to their logbook. Just send them the file and they will let you know before purchase if your e-log can be converted into Logbook Pro's format.

Never gonna happen on the iPhone. At least, that's what the developers hint at. It's what's really kept me from getting an iPhone. Now that I've been turned on to Flogger....well, iPhone here I come.

My own excel document.

Still have a great deal of data to put in, but it'll calculate an 8710 for me, and I have a currency tracker on the other tab that also has important dates regarding medical, passport, certificate issuance, etc.

Is essentially a work in progress. Have a couple cells that still need formulas.
