It's been like this on the LUS side for years. It started because the WOs used the same Cass code as Mainline. The hard part is getting the gate agent (especially in an international location, or Montana) to understand.
 
if u r pilot or dispatcher, hop on to CVG and go with cargo planes to BRU / LEJ (Kalitta / Atlas ) and then buy a ticket to rome (they are pretty cheap in Europe) and you dont have to deal with a crowded plane

if you come back same way you dont have to pay taxes !!!


from my experince AA doesn't let you go on international thru CASS //
DL will let you go if they have an empty seat with the passengers

CASS has nothing to do with it as CASS doesn't apply in this situation. It is all about your airlines reciprocal agreement with AA. If you don't have international privileges in your agreement, you don't go.


The ability to simply go with an empty seat was a US Airways deal and it died with the merger (unfortunately).
 
I jumpseated internationally (albeit only to Mexico) last month on AA. I listed as "pilot commuting" but was ready to purchase a zed if need be, as even my pilot friends at AA weren't sure if it would work. Brought the agents treats and though it took a few extra minutes, they were able to list me d6uj (which is AA code for offline cockpit jumpseater) ...as you know, seats in back only, but it did work.

Not sure it would've worked coming back, ended up on spirit, who btw is awesome to js on internationally if you're headed south.

Yes, list as "Pilot commuting". I've done it many times, works great.

Mexico isn't an "international" destination per AA, so that's probably why you were able to get on. We fly to Australia, NZ, Korea, Japan and China and still had a pretty hard time getting on AA's International reciprocal jumpseat list.

Actually, for purposes of the jumpseat, Mexico is considered international.
 
I was really hoping AA would change their international jumpseat agreements after the merger. I guess they haven't?
