Easiest way to Non Rev to Europe

Hey guys,

Been in the industry for almost 14 years but have never actually done the hop across the pond. Need some info from someone who has experience jumpseating over there. I'm planning on going to Rome next month on American out of JFK. When I go to list on Myidtravel, do I just list as Pilot Commuting? I noticed they don't charge you up front on the taxes nor do they charge a ticketing fee if you list that way. If I list as an R2, it charges me all the fees and taxes up front. Unfortunately jetBlue doesn't fly over there, (obviously) , so all this is kinda new to me. Any help would be great. Feel free to inbox me or respond here.

I'm not sure whether or not American will take international jumpseaters from JetBlue... And I think you guys have a different system to use than myIDtravel... You should email your jumpseat committee for factual info.

Typically, you have to buy a ZED fare on AA to go internationally. You would have better luck with Delta if listing as a jumpseater.

Yep. You can Jumpseat international on Delta as long as there is a seat available in the cabin. Just check in at the ticket counter 75 minutes prior, (very important when coming back,) and pay any required taxes and fees.

I believe you can only Jumpseat Intl. on AA as an AAG employee.... (if I remember correctly)

AA has an international jumpseat list. If your carrier flies internationally (and I'm general Canada and Mexico don't count) you may be on it. Still need an open seat in the back though.

With AA, there is a difference between simply jumpseating and actually occupying the flight deck jumpseat.

Only AA and AA wholly owned pilots and dispatchers can occupy the flight deck jumpseat on international flights.

@fly6785

jetBlue does have an international agreement with AA. Just need an open seat in the back.

As you are leaving out of JFK, I would highly advise that you call ahead of time to list or use the myidtravel website to list well in advance of showing up at the ticket counter. The LAA agents might give you grief otherwise.

If you have a confirmed trip/hotel over there, purchase a ticket. No worries, got some days to kill, then try to jumpseat.

That's pretty much the same story with any US carrier. Sure, the TSA says OALs can occupy the actual Jumpseat, but no airline, that I know of, actually allows it. Delta only allows mainline pilots, dispatchers, and mechanics to sit up front internationally.

AA WO pilots can sit in the actual flight deck jumpseat internationally??!?!

Player, if this is true, you just upped my vacation game by 2000%.

Thanks for the info. Do I list as pilot commuting? I'm aware I can't occupy the Jumpseat, I was just trying to figure out if they allow jump seating with an open seat in the back.

According to my manual, AA WO pilots are authorized to occupy the flightdeck jumpseat on all international flights.

Not sure how you would list, but I would guess as pilot commuting. Honestly, I would just call and talk to a reservation agent.
